Geez...........this thread will be gone in a few minutes

Btw- won like 6/8 last matches, they seem to have gotten over it..

Might as well get the last word in then.

The whole thing sounds like crap. Just something that somebody made up to explain why we lost all those games and now it has gotten out of control. I remember there was a rumour last year surrounding Otto and Kingy so its not like this would be an isolated thing.

This thread was probaly going to get deleted or closed anyway the way it was going, we just had the last 20 posts out of about 22 asking for PMs of it.

This got on the channel 9 news, great work whoever started it.

Caroline Wilson on Fox Footy (White Line Fever) just dismissed all the rumour and innuendo surrounding Bomber as rubbish. Good on her. Like September 11, if there's any real proof of what happened, we haven't actually heard it.

Cats feel heat over rumours
Stephen Rielly
August 10, 2006

THERE are very few people prepared to dispute the merits of the information super-highway, otherwise known as the internet. There is, though, a football club down the Princes Highway that is doing just that this morning.

Geelong Football Club was engulfed yesterday by an internet-driven scandal that began as a rumour posted on a football gossip site on Monday, but which, by late yesterday, was breathing mainstream media air.

Senior Geelong officials were forced to defend the club, specifically coach Mark Thompson, against the titillating cyber-space rumour after a radio station repeated some of its contents and a television station subsequently did likewise.

3AW broadcaster Derryn Hinch opened his afternoon program with details of the website post, which was withdrawn soon after being pinned on Bigfooty.com on Monday morning. Hinch did not name Geelong or Thompson but two hours later Channel Nine news did.

Geelong president Frank Costa broke from a holiday in Queensland to describe the rumour as "awful" and, importantly, of no substance.

"We are not in the business of dignifying rumours and we're certainly not in the business of dignifying something that isn't true," Costa said.

Earlier, Thompson had been asked again to address a rumour of a different kind, that unrest between his players was threatening to derail the team's 11th-hour run at a place in the finals and could, in fact, be the reason for the disappointing year the Cats have had after winning the pre-season competition and starting the home-and-away campaign as one of several premiership fancies.

Thompson, as he did after Geelong beat the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba on Sunday, said it was unlikely that a team that had won six of its past eight matches could be at war with itself.

"Some of the gossip that the players don't get on and there's fighting and there's blame everywhere, it's just impossible to achieve six wins of the last eight games if that was the case," Thompson said.

"I think they are really rallying against that."

Costa yesterday dismissed claims of infighting between players. The Cats were also the subject of unsubstantiated rumours about off-season problems last year.

"All these nasty innuendos that you're hearing all the time are a load of rubbish," he said.

"There are some awful stories, there was one that came out yesterday or the day before on the internet … it's totally wrong and I think it's totally unfair."

Geelong's improved form has given the club an outside chance of playing in the finals, provided it can win its last four games.

Cats chief executive Brian Cook also denied claims of infighting among players during an interview last weekend.
