Despite Dan's obviously hypocritical stance (which, I'm sure, he would defend to the enth degree, despite the fact that he is clearly wrong) I believe that his last paragraph rings true and should ring true for all who feel like abandoning a site that they once loved!

I have frequented other non-footy related boards that I once loved, but have since gone down hill in terms of over-population and lowering standards of "conversation".

However, why deny yourself the right/opportunity to still read or post on the boards by "retiring"? How do you retire anyway? Do you hand in your password; or forget how to type??

I haven't posted on the other boards for ages, but should I chose to, I bloody well will!

Brother Joffa, do not go! You can frequent less if that is the way you are feeling, but don't stop altogether just cause you're p*ssed off with certain intellectually handicapped individuals like Fitzroy "Is it still 1986?" JamesDio!

Please reconsider this "abandonment" and realise that you can always return, whenever you want to stick it up 'em!!!

This is a message board and there are dozens of topics posted here every day. Some topics are worth responding to and generate worthwhile dicussion. Other topics don't and should be ignored. There are a wide range of personalities, eccentrics and footy followers on this site, and for Joffa to leave because he is "fed-up" is bloody poor, I reckon. When a site becomes popular, logically more people will post here, menaing that there will be more "personality clashes. People like Joffa should learn to deal with this. That's what happens when a site is visited as often as bigfooty.

People just don't realise what a great site this is. Nowhere else on the web, will you get better footy discussion than this web-site. Nowhere. If you don't like something, then don't respond to it. It's that simple.

They are just words on a screen for Christ's sake. I mean, who really cares? Often, we all have a bit of a go at each other. So what? Is this a reason to ditch the site? I use this board as a means of expressing opinions and conversing with other like minded footy followers. If you can't cop a bit of jostling, then you shouldn't be here in the first place. Does Joffa really take it THAT seriously?

Joffa will probably come out of this with sympathy as per usual. He has become a bit of "protected species", in my opinion whereby everything he says is always right. If he goes over the top, the excuse is :"Well, that's just Joffa"

Yes it is rather disheartening to see a regular contributor to the board leave...but come on people...thousands upon thousands are dying throughout the world due to malnutrition, lack of adequate medical facilities etc.. Put Joffa's recent actions into a little perspective everybody! It is NOT the end of the world.
Yes Joffa has copped a little flak from certain individuals who have disagreed with some of the things he has voiced (at an above average noise level mind you...) but he really should be strong enough to ignore these things. I'm sure Joffa being the strong-willed person he wishes to portray himself as has endured many tougher things in life than a couple of strangers having a dig at him on a COMPUTER SCREEN of all things... So I am really at a loss to figure out why he has given up and left. But what I am certain of is that he has never actually left these boards...just because he's not posting...doesn't mean he's not reading.
I mean who wouldn't?! I'm sure everybody would love the opportunity to secretly hover above the Earth after their death and spy on those close to them...to find out what their reactions were...to see if they were sorely missed, or to see if it's a case of 'good riddance'...
