Whats Wrong With The Big Fellow Justin Longmuir?

Will He Be Back Again Next Season?

Will He Be Worth Keeping Or Should We Consider A Trade For Some Young Midfielders?

Others Thoughts?

Harves said last night that he was going for an operation this week. They have taken some time and consulted a lot of specialists to ensure he gets the best possible operation. There is however no guarantee he will recover sufficiently to play up to the required standard.

I really hope he can get it sorted out. He is very important to the side. Would be the perfect 3rd tall forward for us.

I would like to see Murphy tried as a key defender, look at how Thurstans has turned out as a key defender for Port.

Personally, I think Pavlich should be played at CHB.

You dont send your best forward down back mate. Ye she can play anywhere but has much more use as a forward.

Maybe seldomly if required in a tight spot for a few minutes in a match... maybe. His place is up forward/half foward drifting to the mid. It's where he does his damage.
However, maybe we should explore the possibiliy of trying Taz at CHB. He can mark well, reads the play very well, is expericed and is a ferocious tackler - but an unrealible goal kick. He may work out well there. Just because he was a forward at Collingwood dosent mean we can experiment now we have a few rounds left to see if he could be good in that position.

Bone on bone. He is finished.

Tell me about it, unfortunately no operation in the world will get him 100% again.

I think the best they can do, is repair or replace any damaged cartlidge and ligaments, then a general clean up, of his dicky knee.

Seyanora J-Lo :(

One of J-Lo's great qualities is his clearances of his own ball out of the centre. When he was playing in the ruck it was like having another midfielder. I'd like to see him get a run as a midfielder, or play on a wing. His skills for a big man around the ground are sensational.

He can't keep rucking with a dodgey knee, so he needs to find a permanent position playing elsewhere. Either as a key forward or in the midfield. Personally I think he only does well up forward when he is floating forward for periods of a game and he catches the opposition out. When he's up there full time and has a man on him full time he seems to struggle.

Let him have is op and see how he pulls up. Jlo is a versitile player he can be good for 2-3 goal gamer or as a sweeper down back. Gilmore is doing Jlo role at the moment. Jlo can release a player like Johnson who is good run and carry player. it is sad that he is out but he was a big factor to last years record season. I wouldnt trade Jlo.

J'Lo as a sweeping defender in the Cornes mould i think could work to be honest. Is very versatile and can play pretty much anywhere.

Its all ifs and buts at the moment though.

If you remember 02 and 03 Jlo and Symonds were playing those rolls from time to time
But as you said its all ifs and buts

Isn't there some radical surgery where they actually regrow his cartlidge or something? 2 years out or something.

But yeah, he is pretty much finished.

SO true need to realize it sooner than later we are exposed to $300k/yr for 2008 & 2009 so we need to retire him and copp the hole in TPP and recruit a young backup ruckman in draft which will cost $40K each yr for the next two yrs.

Ben allen had to give it away so did Vos and Whitnall is facing the same dilemma. Bone on bone ouch!!

It's not being able to train properly thats the killer

We should have done that with Trent Croad aswell but never did.
Tarrant doesn't have the focus to be a defender. If a forward relaxes for a second then nothing really bad happens. If a defender relaxes then his opponent is likely to kick a goal.

Tarrant is a natural forward which is what makes his goal kicking so frustrating.

I beg to differ. He has a ferocious team orientated nature. We've all seen it. i certainly think it's worth a shot. Give him a few games to see if it works out. Through his entire career of playing footy he would've played down back at some stage so I'm sure he is no stranger to it....
