Our 2017 1st is easily enough for Darling. No need to add Melbourne to the trade.

I'd ask GWS or GCS if they want to do our 2017 1st for pick 7 or 8 and then trade that to the Eagles.

Only if you expect to finish with a top 5 pick.

I think we can make finals next season so it's up to the eagles or GWS/Suns to gauge where we're at.

Say we got pick 8 from the Suns, Would you do that?

8, 12, and 2017 2nd may get Hogan.

Lol no.

Why would we pay Darling, pick 8 and 12 for Hogan? When Hogan if he came would replace Kennedy long term which meant we have a requirement still for Darling? A forward who kicks 40+ goals a year as a second tall?

Darling isn't going anywhere.

Darling isn't going anywhere.

In my scenario it would be Darling, 12 and 2017 2nd.

How about Essendon trade pick 1 for picks 5 and 7 to GWS.

Then trade 7 for Darling.

West Coast can then trade 7 and 12 for Hogan.

Yeah that's the one. If he got owned by a squib, what does that make him?

I'm absolutely sure you don't understand the word squib.

How about Darling for Merret and your first rounder.

Seriously, we aren't trading Darling. Go see if you can get Crameri back from the dogs.

Zac Merrett as well before some of you Dons supporters try and palm off that hack Jackson :p

Still not that great for Melbourne - they would get more trading direct with either WA club - this year.
SCREW MELBOURNE,

(You are right though).

Is that what you think ? The player is happy to leave and play under his former coach and the coach is happy to let him go. It's a mutual agreement. He is gone

Based on an internet rumour on a fan page, well I'm convinced

Can someone tell me what make Hogan a 1st rd pick better than Darling?

First two season in AFL;
Jack compared to Hogan
Goals 53 + 21 to 41 +41
Behinds 25 + 11 to 33 + 19
Tackles 93 +68 to 29 + 25
Marks 103 +131 to 134 + 149

Yes Hogan is 4cm taller and can play FF better than jack (although the year Jack played there he kicked more goals than Hogan ever has in a year) and Hogan is 3 years younger but all that does not add up to a 1st rd pick better.

Hogan was actually a year older than Darling in his first two seasons. Their relative value as third year players was a lot closer than it is now with Darling going into his 7th season and 3 years older.

Darling won't ever be top key forward. We've seen enough to date to see that his practical ceiling is a 40-50 goal a year 2nd/3rd tall forward which is sought after, but is not potential AA key forward sought after. That's what Hogan is, potential. His first two years were pretty good but he's not proven, yet. Potential holds a looot of value at the trade table.

I think the media have got a bit carried away with Hogan. He's not a sure thing to ever be a top line key forward but people like Jonathan Brown talk about giving him $15m over 10 years. I'd be disappointed if we did that. I think he will become a very good key forward but I'm not yet convinced he'll go past Lynch, Cameron etc. who are a bit older and already established or Moore, Wright, Daniher etc. who are also unproven.

Are people really wondering why Hogan is worth a shitload more than Darling? Holy ****!
Tell me the answer then...

Why is Hogan worth 1 x top 1st rd pick (and maybe a 2nd rd pick too according to some people) more than Darling?
4cm taller, 3 years younger and has 0.3 more goals a game on average, but Darling can play more up the ground, has a better tank and is arguably a better set shot.

I'm not saying for a minute Darling is worth the same, but I would say if it was a straight trade then Darling + pick 12 = Hogan + pick 27
