Nice mark. But 1 nice mark against an average AFL defender hardly makes Fyfe a guaranteed KPP.

He may we be able to play as a KPP forward regularly, but at this point in time he hasn't proved he can like Darling.

All I know is Fyfe doesn't lose many contests. At worst, he will get the ball to ground. He is dynamic on the ground as we all know.

This was purely in response to your post stating Darling would be more valuable to Freo than Fyfe. Even though you may have meant it in jest, it is a ludicrous statement.

I also challenge you to find one clip of Darling monstering an "elite" KPD.

Unfortunately the old adage that you're only as good as your last game rings true to a lot of people around here. Or just MotleyLemon who seems to have ignored his entire career thus far.

Suggest you read my original post as I used the phrase 'it could be argued' on the basis freo badly need a kpp forward.

I then mentioned fyfe has not proven himself as a kpp forward like darling has. You use a rare highlight of fyfe outmarking an average defender as some sort of evidence... Yet the bottom line is fyfe whilst an elite midfielder is an unknown quantity as a kpp forward.

So the only thing ludicrous is your claim fyfe is a better kpp forward than darling based on pure guess work.

Where is this Darling-Fyfe comparisons coming from?
Darling has a lot of potential as a KPF, and could be used through the midfield like a Roughead type, but you can't compare him to the clear best player in the game right now.

Yeah I also dont understand the Darling vs Fyfe comparison. Fyfe against anyone in the league and he wins. Thats why he got the Brownlow medal playing only half a season.

Really hope Jack has a burning desire to come out all guns blazing this year with a full pre-season under his belt. 90% of our Eagles were putrid on GF Day so a few howlers on the big stage doesnt = useless. Same as Ballantyne having a shocker 2 years ago in the GF doesnt relegate him to the WAFL. Have some perspective people.

No need to defend Darling. There's a fair chance (unfortunately for the opposition) that the GF will be the making of him. Like the ridiculous (negative) Fyfe threads, I'm not sure why there are so many denigrating threads about the better or more promising players in the competition.

Freo would have won the 2013 and 2015 flags with Darling in their team. Do people forget how good he is apart from this year. He had that weird foot thing which prevented him for doing any preseason and he missed the first 7 or 8 weeks of the season. Unsurprisingly he finished the year playing like shite (last two rounds plus all finals).

Freo would of won the 2013 and 2015 with Buddy Franklin. Franklin has a better GF record over your teams 2 'spearheads'.

Fyfes best game was against the crows in 2013 at subi: 4 goals from 28 disposals.

Might sound like an over confident eagles fan but i feel next season is Jacks year. in the last two years his been kicked around 40 per season which is good as he played second fiddle kennedy and had poor or lack of delivery in 13/14. A fit Darling this year would have kicked 45-60 and showed that early on when he beat mcdonald convincingly in his 2nd game back. unfortunately he ran out of fitness a month or so later due to no preseason. Its also good to see he has moved on from his shocking GF display as well.

Gunstons a champ and deservingly better (but not by a lot)but lets be honest Gunstons played for the greatest team of this century and has the had the luxury of having great service from some of the greatest mids in the comp. Bar 2015 the service Darlings got in the last few years have been deplorable in both quantity and quality. Kennedy's Goal tallys from last few years and this year shows that( from 60's to 80 odd this season).
