Jack Darling

I'm very comfortable with the policy of drafting while considering character. It has held us in good stead so far. It means the whole can exceed the sum of the parts.

Wells has never drafted a KP player and done well other than mature age or father sons. What makes you think he would have identified Darling?

I'm hoping at the end of this year we go to the trade table for a KP player from Westcoast or Goldcoast. Both have a ridiculous amount of talent in key positions.

Westcoast: Cox, Natainui, Schofield, McKenzie, Brown, Lynch, Glass, Darling & Kenedy.

Gold Coast: Smith, Gorringe, Frazer, Dixon, Lynch, Day, Daye, Bock & Coad

Not a lot I'd like to get rid of at the cats but I'd love a KP defender or ruckman.

Jack Darling is the best young player this year in 2011, he only averages 14 posessions a game but they are good quality posessions setting up goals or taking that huge grab in the pack that not many players can do. give the kid (man) a few more games and he will get more posesions and we get to watch more of the star.
his pressure, defensive skills and pressure is worth a few kicks as it is anyways,he is one of the most athletic and hard working players i have watched.
cant belive he lasted to pick 26

Well don't know if he's the best but he is a good player that's certain. I like the way the kid goes about it and he has a really good pair of hands. A really good pick up for the Eagles...

OF course a lot of clubs were reluctant to take him because of supposed off field dramas...something clubs ( particularly Geelong I believe ) are very wary of. Troy Taylor of Richmond is another example, but one that looks like a poor choice, unfortunately.

Darling though looks like he has his head together and looks like a gem. Next year ( Year 2 ) will be the test for him, like it is for many players. I suspect he might turn out to be a 200 game player for the Eagles though.

what has he done to you? to make you say he is a tosser.

DONT JUDGE PEOPLE UNTILL YOU HAVE MET THEM YOURSELVES

I've met him and he is a tosser. Place him in that same category as a Masten or Palmer who I have also met or and think the world shines out of their backsides.

Darling is a gun, but also a liability. If he can play to potential then he will be a fantastic pick up at 26.

If he lets it get to his head you have a potential bad egg in your basket.

The other poster who wrote as if he knew Jack Darling and talked about his off field issues is simply reciting information provided in an article over here.

Even the extent to which he says he knew the coach who compared him to Jonathon Brown.... thats straight out of the article and media beat up provided on this kid.

To Geelong supporters I dont even know why you would care. Being a gun at WCE or even Freo is easier to achieve then Geelong because we give them a run and our re-building.

Mitch Duncan would be a gun for WCE or Freo right now but for Geelong he is just a solid depth player.
