Marley williams. Higgins has been good when fit. Dal Santo.
*snort* Can I please have some Collingwood comment on the Marley Williams being a decent player.
Who was the last good player that went to Richmond? Caddy...Prestia...hampson...hunt...knights...chaplin...moore...yarran...

So many good pickups.
Maric, Chaplin, Miles, Nankervis, Caddy and Prestia have been important for us
Hampson has a back injury keeping him out. Knights was forced to retire due to his knee, Yarran mental health. Great work trolling injuries. Weak prick

On the other hand we generally try build from within. You know like having two of the best mids in the comp, the best defender and one of the best forwards

That's why North are going after both. It's reported that they planned for this and with the departures last season = ~2.6million free. If they get rid of goldstein that's another 800k. Money has to go somewhere. Our two highest paid players are goldstein and swallow who is reportedly on around 600k (another that could leave). Have you been living in a cave? North have put huge contracts in front of both.
Yeah mate we had that same attitude last year but instead of Rockliff and Hurley, we ended up with Mayne and half of Cloke

Yep money isn't everything, it's not like they'll be playing for peanuts if they don't go to the highest bidder either, money is only part of the equation 90% of the time.

Williams is a decent player, but he has a massive amount of baggage.

Certainly not a player anyone should be boasting about 'luring' to their club. Afaik North were the only ones willing to take him.

People bashing Marley Williams haven't seen him play this year, we absolutely love him at North. One of the best lockdown small defenders in the competition, simply does not get beaten, and the offensive side of his game has really flourished this year. Still only 23 as well #bargain

Well yeah it's hard for it not be a bargain given you only paid pick 105 for him. We gave away alot of decent players with good potential cheaply last year.

Witts hurt. Williams doesn't. Should've packaged Witts and pick 25 for a late first round pick/early 2nd from GC, they had it. Collingwood supporters all knew how this was going to turnout, that we would be giving him for significant unders. It's quite funny looking back at the comments from last year and how almost every non-collingwood supporter thought Witts was going to be a 209 cm useless spud.

Marley Williams who wasn't wanted by his club, Dal Santo was moved on so they could rebuild, Higgins seeking a fresh start because he was constantly injured.
Hardly selling yourself as a destination club.
I thought you would have landed a big fish by now - seeing you play in a Grand Final every week.

The good thing about the players that joined us - they played well in finals. Especially Ben Jacobs who turned into a magician and made a player disappear in front of 90,000 people

North keep bragging about how much room they have in the salary cap.
There is a valid reason for having that much room...

They'll need more than 2 players. By spending big bucks and getting rid of high draft picks will that really give them some success, or is it for their supporters benefit to be seen to be doing something.
2 x 1st rounders likely to go on Kelly. 2017 going, will they give up 2018 as well? Who has the currency to get them another 1st rounder.
Goldstein on the decline, already 29 and on a lucrative contract.

Their 2nd best key forward turns 35 before the start of next season, comes out of contract, will he re-sign, will look elsewhere?

Richmond have already matched their offer for Dusty.
It's certainly going to interesting for their list management. No wonder they're getting desperate.

If rumours are to go by then everyone is into him. Every team will be doing themselves a disservice not inquiring for this kid. He's got talent to burn.

Just to add onto my previous post, we have the currency in both terms of dollar value and pick value to accommodate both Hopper and GWS.

Read that cats are the front runners at the minute. Will be hard for them to get it done with no first round pick + they already need to get ablett in somehow.

He'll go to North.

Geelong have pick 20 (via carlton) and a 2018 1st rounder to trade, if he wants to go to geelong it will get done.

Ablett is 33 he will be traded for a pick outside the top 30 or geelong won't trade for him at all.

If you have the two best mids in the comp, the best defender and one of the best forwards and like to build from within (despite having 5 or 6 from other clubs in your best 22) then why is Richmond still so shit? Surely having basically the best 4 players in the league (as you put it) would make them a threat, right?

Assuming your question is genuine, It's often your bottom 6 players that determine the strength of a team. Also saying that we are "still so shit" when we are only half a game behind on on the ladder at the moment seems a bit of a stretch.

Have heard word that Richmond have put a sizeable contract Infront of him, Kelly situation holding up negotiations between Hopper and GWS.

Imagine the list people are keen to get back a first round pick after losing it, so somebody of decent trade value will be up for grabs. Does he actually fill a need for Richmond though?

I don't rate Geelong much this year either.

Yeah pick 100 or there about's. We were desperate to get rid of him for 'cultural' issues. He can't kick.
