I predicted before the start of this season that one of Hopper or Kennedy would leave. I thought Hopper would've been the more likely one to leave but now it's up to Kennedy. Be interesting to see how much interest there is in Kennedy.

GWS have done well to retain their prime movers.
They were always going to lose 1 or 2 promising youngsters, particularly with Setterfield coming next year.

Interesting to see who is squeezed out now.

I still think Kelly will go as thats way to much money to say no to.

With Hopper signing hopefully Smith will sign on as well.

No idea about Kennedy.


But as i said, thought Hopper was signed and sealed to Geelong.
So im not good at this at the moment (thankfully lol)

Always thought that GWS would lose between 1 & 3 players apart from Stevie J & Downie this year. MDB & Dawson Simpson, who are on one year contracts are still out there, but ignoring them I'm pretty happy where GWS is up to. (And I suspect they'll both get re-signed.)

Josh Kelly - really don't know what he'll do, as he seems genuinely torn. On one hand, the massive contract will be hard for him to ignore when it would take him back to Victoria as well as setting him up for life, but I think there's a reasonable chance he stays for 2 more years out of loyalty.
Dev Smith - have to think that Dev is the most likely to go, especially if Kelly stays. Would be saddened to lose him, one of our first draft crop & a strong performer, but he's the most 'expendable' in my assessment. If Kelly does go, then the unused $ will keep Dev.
Matt Kennedy - thought we would keep him, he's pretty relaxed about life & contracts, but the Hopper news may well see him depart for more opportunity and $, although I think he's had decent opportunity to date and more to come in the next couple of years (Griffen to retire end of next year, & if Smith leaves). At this stage, I'd still favour keeping Matty.

It makes for funny reading. There's always a few posters who seem dead certain that player A will be at their club. You've done well with your retention, could get even better if Kelly stays which I think he will.

Same i thought it was either him or josh that would go and we would keep the other. Dev and matt seemed seperate decisions.

But i have now re-evaluated my thoughts to
