Is it worth throwing away the possibility of ever trading with the Crows again, just to look tough. In addition, I would think players would become more reluctant to move to Carlton in the future if you treat them like cattle. Just my opinion though.

We have taken Jacobs' request to be traded back to the Crows into consideration and are trying to get a deal done (Jacobs + #18 for #14 ISNT a deal, it's a raping). How are we treating him like cattle ???

But just to humor you, If the choice was 7k or 0, I would take the 7k knowing that when the other guy is selling his car that I have wanted for some time, he will give me a fair deal.

Look, I'd like to see Jacobs go to where he would like to go. He's a good kid and deserves fair treatment, but if Carlton are working within the rules, they are obliged to work as hard as they can for their Club and their individual pay packets.

No posturing here by any of us will have any influence on a final decision being made, but if all that is on offer is a 28, then I'd be happy to welcome Jacobs back with open arms (until next year at least)

We have thrown sweeteners in before, but that's as good as you can hope for. We were told we wouldn't get Judd without picks 1 & 3, Warnock would go to the PSD if we didn't offer more than our 2nd round pick and that we wouldn't get fair compensation for Fev. Now do you see where the arrogance comes from? We have the two best guys in the business and they will get the deal they're after.

Yes it is. So is your rep with players who want to return to SA. Not only will you look incompetent if you can't get this straight forward deal done, you'll also look like pricks after offering Jacobs a million dollar contract and promising him the first ruck spot. You can forget about players believing you or wanting to come to you in the future if you stuff this up.

I would agree with that Jars....but each year I fall into this idea of thinking we will be seeing something exciting happen early trade week...... you would think I would learn by now

I think you are over-reading this......Jacobs will get to Adelaide, the deal will get done relatively soon. Adelaide will give a bit more than they wanted and Carlton will take a bit less than they wanted. Carlton and Adelaide will both respect each other afterwards and on Monday afternoon the two management teams will go for a beer and thank each other for being reasonable and fair.

The Walker situation is interesting. I just can't see how the Bulldogs could possibly get a deal through because they have no draft picks left, and don't have any players we'd want. Seems Everitt is off the radar for attitude reasons apparently.

So it comes down to our little SA friends. Walker and Jacobs would definitely secure pick 14 plus compo pick plus a quality player. How bad to they want them.? Their rumblings thus far suggest they're desperate.

Facts are, if we lose Jacobs it doesn't hurt us at all. He is our 3rd best ruck, so he isn't in our best 22, we also have a good backup in hamma.

If they miss out on him they are stuck with Maric as their only ruckman.

In all honesty I for one wouldn't mind giving up Talia and a pick for Walker and Jacobs. Talia showed some promise playing in the SANFL but i honestly struggle to see him breaking into the Adelaide side.
