Traded Jake Stringer [traded to Essendon]

Do you need more mids? I can't believe not many clubs are circling Rockliff. Has a reputation as a stat padder but so does Tom Mitchell, at 28 he's primed for a finals contender.
Yep. I think we're not into him due to attitude more than anything

Damian Barrett on the footy show..

Me - awesome, let's get some trade news.

...Talks about Essendon drug saga two days before the grand final.

He is the biggest moron ever.
He's like the guy who stalks his ex for 3 years after the fact.

Was kind of hoping he would nominate by coming out in the player review dancing with his new teammates in their team colours.
Would have made for some interesting TV.

The whole 'My sauce is better than your sauce speil?'

Heinz is the best btw.

But really, no one believes that dribble.
Heinz? GTFO, Rosella's the best by far

As a neutral I think essendons pick 11 in a straight swap is about as fair a deal as both sides could reach, and more balanced than anything Geelong could offer.

I disagree that pick 11 is a fair deal. I think Jake Stringer is mentally fried. Why should Essendon give away a pick 11 for a player who is mentally done? I don't believe Stringer can handle the demands of being an elite level sportsman. I am not privy to any inside info either. The bloke is a sook, he drops his head and is a selfish football player. Physically he is a reasonable footballer, but mentally he isn't up to it. I will bump this post and laugh if Essendon wasted pick 11 on Stringer.

Still chopped up the Saints this yr m8. :thumbsu:

I've read several comments to this effect but whenever I've watched the Dogs I can't say I've seen him drop his head and go to water sure he isn't the biggest ball winner but he has been the Dogs leading goal kicker for the last three years, so a question for Dogs fans or anyone that has seen the Dogs play can you point me to a match where he has done what Farm Boy has suggested.

No.

He is a bit of a hypochondriac like Danger I suppose.

Has improved his team play. Unselfish centring balls set up key plays in finals last yr.

Definitely lazy. Doesn't lead enough or apply a lot of pressure.

He struggles playing through injury and isn't the most professional in regards to his preparation.

He has been really good whenever not carrying an injury. His first 3 years, and the first half of last year. Then did his shoulder and went to shit because it wasn't an injury that could be rested. Came back this year absolutely blazing. For anyone who thinks he has been out of form for two years I suggest they watch some of our first 6-8 games. He was probably in our top 5. Then he did his knee, followed by 2 hamstrings.

Play wise he doesn't play with the aerial aggression that you would think a 190+cm forward would. Hits a pack or a loose ball with speed, but is mediocre overhead.

Yep. Pick 11 straight swap to me is pretty good. He's very talented. His 2015 season is no accident and I think that he can return to that level.

If he chooses Geelong, then it's not a big of a deal for us either. Although I'd like to actually land a high profile trade for once :(

Like someone already mentioned, I'm more disappointed that we're not leading the race for Kennedy.

Stringer would be a good get for you for sure. Class doesn't disappear and if being traded isn't a wake up call then nothing is. You'd have probably one of the 2 best forward lines in the league, and a competent defensive group. You obviously need some inside mids, but surely guys like Miles are on the radar? Super cheap and will play 22 solid games for you.

Yep our forwardline would be very dangerous. We already had the most efficient forwardline this year. The addition of Stringer would take it up another level. If we do land Stringer, then our bookends are ready to go. Our midfield is nowhere near it though.

Yes I'd like Miles for sure, but I think Kennedy is the one that got away unfortunately. Jesse Lonergan and Harley Balic were some names thrown around as well, but I don't know too much about them as players. We have some developing, albeit unproven inside mids coming through so a lot will depend on how well they come along next year
