At this point Aish is nothing more than the potential seen in him. Jenkins is also a two hundred gamer.

Edit is 26 yrs so won't make 200 obviously. But will be in the game for the long haul.

What you on about? Jenkins will play game 200 at the age of 34 after we win the next 9 premierships in a row...

Because it's relevant, both were top 10 draft picks, even if it's not exactly the same situation, it provides a minimum precedent to go off. Port basically gave their first for polec and brisbanes 2nd plus a bit of maneuvering with other picks. Giving up two first rounders for an uncontracted 2nd year player if is not good enough

Yeah, both were top 10 draft picks, however, Aish immediately showed why he was a top 10 draft pick, where as Polec never did over his 3 years at Brisbane. Port were trading for potential that had barely made a whimper at AFL level, and up to that point, had shown quite a big injury risk. That doesn't sound like it fits the description of Aish thus far from where I'm sitting.

For the life of me I don't understand why people don't understand the problem with thinking that Aish as an uncontracted player will come to us cheap because the buying club has the upper hand. But that an uncontracted Danger (post matching) won't go to Geelong cheap because the selling club has the upper hand.

Put down the Kool Aid please!

If Aish is on the open market though it will be the first real test of the new admin.

It happens exactly the same in the opposite direction. Aish is uncontracted but will cost 2 first rounders. Danger is uncontracted but even if we match we will lose him for nothing in the PSD :) kool aid everywhere!

I just think these Melbourne people complaining about Roo should ring Triple M and also demand the Gary Lyon no longer commentates Melbourne games.

+1

I watched avery very biased opinion of the Crows game on the weekend on afl.com.au where Lyon had a lot to say about Danger too. Again its my perception.

No. There is a single relationship between uncontracted players who want out and the selling club. and that is that the player has far more control and leverage.

It makes no sense and discredits anyone who tries to argue it, that players are afraid of the PSD when the selling club continually caves in for unders on a player's real value. They do it because the system favours the player not the club

Question Crows supporters

If Danger leaves and Crows say finish 6th for example and recieve Pick 14 compensation. Should Crows trade Pick 14 & 2nd Rd pick to get James Aish?

I don't think he will come to SA but can not see him staying in Brisbane,

I think he already has a deal in place in Melbourne.

You are interestingly inconsistent.

Yes to a first and second for Aish, but only a late first for Danger? Are you presuming a $1.2m+ deal for Danger? Otherwise, we match, and it is the same situation for both, right? Two players who will go to their intended new teams for slightly less than what they're worth. Then it is just the question of "worth" for a top five player and an exciting young kid.

I think his worth is not vastly beyond Gunston.

1st, 2nd and 3rd round for Aish, 3rd and 4th round.

Good player but a touch over rated in my opinion.
Some of the suggestions concerning draft picks are way over the top.
Doesn't go and get the ball like Josh Kennedy,Lewis, Boak,Sloane.
Not a KPP who will kick a bag of goals.
Hasn't the explosiveness of Danger and the ability to burst packs open or play as a regular key forward.
Not tall and able to play a defensive role like Brodie Smith. Hasn't the cunning and guile of Betts around goal.
He does give outside run, something we lack and he would be a nice addition to our club.

I want to be be convinced with a logical argument why we need to pay so much for him. Really where do posters see his position in our team moving forward.
PS.Being Norwood royalty is not an valid reason.

Pay so much for him? He's a 250 game player, with class, speed and smarts.

And, thank Christ, he's not another inside mid.

He could be a 250 game player. I've read the actual percentage of players that make it to that point on here somewhere. Incredibly low and not a basis to justify getting him. If we lose a mid this year and you know which one I'm talking about then sure he fits the bill. Otherwise our interest should lie elsewhere. Versatile players around 195 are the targets I would be looking at securing.

I can't like this enough.

So much fapping. I don't think we need an Aish unless he comes really cheaply of course.

I don't think either of those eventualities is likely to happen.

Aish will cost a 1st round pick + something extra (probably a 2nd round pick). I think it's highly unlikely that he will fetch 2x 1st round picks, not even if they are late 1st rounders.

I also don't think it's at all likely that Dangerfield will go via the PSD. I think accept a FA offer, Adelaide will match it, then he will be traded to the club of his choice. We won't get full value for him, but we'll get more in return than the FA compensation pick.
