Making this up as I go along, but if BNE are offering a standard type 2nd contract (say $300k) while Hawks have $500k on the table already, then it may be more anti-BNE than genuine homesickness. He'd have mates in Melbourne telling him how fantastic it is there. I have this gut feeling that Hawthirn saw the potential in Gunston, backed that judgement in and offerred him what the thought he'd end up being worth. We save our $400k contracts for experienced players, not emerging talent. We take no risks and that consistently bears a certain type of result.

It's a new regime at the club, so we don't really know the strategies going forward .....but i'd suggest Adelaide has similar list management approaches to Geelong & Hawthorn

except for the fact we don't have the ridiculous W-L ratio and flag attraction of those clubs. so it's pretty difficult for the same strategy to work for the AFC... or any other club that isn't top 4 year after year.

I expect Adelaide to reclaim its status in the short term as a club of choice .....and that's not a flippant comment !

In 25 years, we have struggled to attract quality first choice 22 players to come to the club.

yeh mainly referring to FA because of the clubs you mentioned. i'm also quietly confident we'll turn things around as well.

In the Eastern states the feel is that the club is heading in the right direction after meandering during the Trigg years

The next off-season will be the first REAL one with the new boys in place ......will be very interesting

I honestly can't see why we would go after him he's the second forward behind Tex and isn't performing. Why would he suddenly get any better as the number 1 forward at another club

Had a 40 goal year from 20 games last year and would be the best tall forward we have.....
