I have seen James Byrne play in the VFL a couple of times this year. He seems to play well, and has experience and courage, so I wonder, why was he never on our senior list? He is just the type of player we could have done with at senior level.

I think they said in the Herald Sun this morning that Byrne's 28. He might only have another 3 or 4 years left in him at the most.

I was going to point out that he's a bit long in the tooth. He's a journeyman and a professional, a great leader but not quite at the top level as a player

Perhaps a tad slow for the AFL, too. He wouldn't have been a bad rugby player. I noticed a couple of ghosting moves that brought Stephen Larkham to mind. Good player, and Captain.

I rated him when he was on our list, if Neil Craig had have taken over coach when he was around he may have transformed him into better use, looks at Massie and especially Stevens. Was more of a fill in player but did play some solid games. Tough, finds lot of footy, but lacks pace. Getting on now, so prolly not worth the effort.
