The injury looked pretty bad :( what would happen next year to him?

Re: James podsiadly- dislocated shoulder

He'll be right, will delay his pre-season by some weeks but he will be 100% by R1.

Re: James podsiadly- dislocated shoulder

Don't want to be a bummer, but the way he fell means he had a posterior dislocation and therefore he has a fracture, as well as ligament damage (hence why he was still in pain after it was popped back in).

He'll be out for longer than most people with shoulder dislocations.

Of course...I said Johnson had a medial collateral last week so take my words with a grain of salt.

Re: James podsiadly- dislocated shoulder

How long does it take to recover?
The players are now in holiday. Will it be fine at the start of the preseason camp?

Re: James podsiadly- dislocated shoulder

I thoughht he did his knee at first glance when he was down. :( Glad it's only a dislocated shoulder. :)

Post. Dislocations are pretty rare and take a little longer to heal than anterior dislocations.. It is pretty possible he had an anterior looking back at footage now, so he might be ok for pre-season if it is. If it's posterior add another month to the recovery and if it's posterior+fracture add another month again (max).

It's cute when med students think they're real doctors :o

leave him alone hes only trying to help at least he not a troll.

any woo pods will be right, might take a bit longer to get better but he will know how to get better and fitter from this he was one of the fittness staff few years back.l trust pods to warm the seat for brown/vardy and co.

Re: James podsiadly- dislocated shoulder

Watched seven news and it said Pods will have surgery on Saturday.
Enjoy the holiday and recovery time and come back next year strong and fit! The J-Pod fairy tale will continue.:thumbsu:

Re: James podsiadly- dislocated shoulder

This from Pods in the Addy:

"From what the medical staff said, it doesn't usually go out that way, so it's probably not a great result."

Podsiadly is confident the injury will not have any negative impact on his ability to return to somewhere near his best next season.

"I have done post-season rehabilitation before, and I will be working my a--- off to be playing the best that I can next year," he said.

"I'm confident it won't hold me back."

We really only need him as a back-up for Hawk now anyway.

Good thing you used that emoticon, it saved you.

I did have a laugh about the piece on the afl website today that questioned whether Pods would be best 22 next year. Noobs.

Anyway, he's got a fair bit of time to recover and it shouldn't impact too much on his start time next year, or his output. Both he and Mitch had pretty modified pre seasons this year after their hip ops, and it certainly didn't negatively affect their year.

Get well soon Pods, premiership player :thumbsu:

Its so easy to forget and undervalue that big body crashing defensive setups and the great marks he took during 2011, get well Pods, your spot up forward awaits you come 2012.

Some of our supporters make silly comments.

Who would have predicted that response PO?:)

Of course I was having a bit of fun. That said, it's in the longer term interests of the club that Hawk becomes our key forward sooner rather than later. I'm sure Pods would agree with that.

Hope there's no serious structural damage to the shoulder and he's back fit and firing in 2012.:thumbsu:

I thought even though he wasn't able to mark during the 1st half, he just kept on competing and every single high ball that went forward he was crashing the pack and allow the smalls to get 1st use.
A really tough player that throws his weight around.

Was funny to see Maxwell trying to beat up on a smaller man in Stokes during the 1st quarter and Pods runs all the over to help his mate out and puts the sleeper hold on Maxwell.

And that AFL website suggesting Pods is not in our best 22 need to remember he took the 2nd most contested marks in the entire AFL and kicked over 50 goals for the year.

He'll be right. Might have to start his pre-season a bit late but I don't see any reason that it will affect him too badly, so long as he doesn't let the injury inhibit his bash-and-crash method.

Pods and Hawk should be a real handful in 2012. Hopefully we can emulate our Hawthorn friends with a Buddy/Roughy-like combo (in terms of goals scored at least!).

The bigger concern for me is whether he has any residual affects from the injury. His value is almost entirely reliant contested marking, and I would have thought that having fully functioning shoulders is pretty important for taking contested marks.

Hopefully my concerns are unfounded.

Will be fine as he is not being forced to continue playing. No need for a reconstruction from what I hear, thus its just rest and relaxation. Both pods and Mitch will be fit and firing for round 1 next year....am hoping we can see a forward line that contains Mitch, vardy, pods and hawkins at some point! Chuck in Menzel and sj, and that is some serious fire power!

You've done well to type that correctly PO thought it would have brought a tear or two to the eye to write that:D

It does have a nice ring to it though;)

I loved the way he thanked his team-mates for making him a Premiership player. Such a humble bloke! It was good that Andy Maher pointed out that it was his marks and goals that got Geelong to the GF and that he deserved his medal.

I reckon guys like Pods, Menz and Vardy (and Shannon) will provide drive to go back to back - and I reckon Joel would like to be a Premiership Captain!

Yep agree and he would too, and eventually that time will come although there's definitely room for both and having them in tandem is good for us.

I was absolutely stoked for Tomma that he played so well and proved some doubters wrong, and props to him for having a big part in us winning the flag, but hopefully in the wash we don't forget the bloke who played an equally large part in getting us there in the first place. The fact that we're taking about a year where Mooney was rendered largely ineffectual due to injury and yet we still won a heck of a lot of close games and made a GF had a lot to do with Pods.

As regards my lolz at the afl website piece, only noobs would think that either Brown or Vardy is physically capable of playing the crash and bash structural role that the Pod does at this point. Nah. They'll get their time in the seniors next year when it's warranted don't you worry, but they won't be doing that, he will, and that's how it should be.

It did, man I rocked M3 I reckon during that part of the medal presentation. My fiancee puts up with a lot, bless her soul, but I think she'll still say no to the 'Pods premiership player' on our cake, and rightly so :D But yeah, I'm just glad, want to go back to the original thread about the rookie draft whispers and remember all those people who thought drafting him was a dud idea, look how that turned out :D

Just so happy for him, worked so hard to get here, and listening to his comments about how grateful he was to the others, he's got such humility about him and just does the work, hope he gets to celebrate before the surgery this week :thumbsu:
