if jaques was behind chris rogers for the test opening position, will a good game in the pura cup final see jaques first picked come next summer?

He deserves to be first picked IMO. The selectors feel as if he needs to play for Australia. I've always thought in the back of my mind he is better equipped and more driven in the 4-day game than the 1-day game.

However, Rogers is a good bet as well.

We will see.

He averges 57 ffs, i think he's certainly earned an extended run. Who they go for first is up to them tho.

his formed tailed of at the wrong time.

needs a thumper in teh brit season to get back on top before the new test season.

does he have a CC berth?

Rogers scores most of his runs on the flat WACA. As the WACA started to get more bowler friendly as the season went on his form tapered off. Strange that.

What are you talking about?

In his last 5 innings at the WACA he scored

55, 94, 110, 0 and 34

In his 3 scores above 50 there was 2 innings victories (one match decided inside 2 days) and his final 2 scores WA were 6/19 and 6/77 at certain points in the innings.

Rogers is not some flat track bully.

Actually now I think about it the WACA hasn't really got more bowler friendly.

What are his scores & average away from the WACA this year

hasn't got more bowler friendly?

It certainly did. Much better than the first 2 matches.

Rogers at the WACA - 279, 7, 46 (played 2nd innings with an injury from memory), 55, 94, 110, 0, 34.

Rogers away from the WACA - 84, 73, 152, 9, 55, 34, 75, 95, 0

Runs and Averages -
WACA - 625 runs from 8 innings @ 78.125
Away - 577 runs from 9 innings @ 64.11

Total - 1202 runs from 17 innings @ 70.70 with 3 centuries and 7 half centuries.

So his home average is 14 more than his away average. Hmmm, pretty poor effort that, will want to fix it if he ever wants to wear the baggy green.

Well if thats a problem then I guess Jaques doesnt have a chance in hell of ever playing for Australia :p

Jaques @ SCG- 163, 79, 7, 0, 2, 23, 192, 141, 31

Jaques away- 3, 0, 44, 0, 57, 2, 71, 57, 13, 15

SCG- 638 runs from 9 innings @ 70.89
Away- 262 runs from 10 innings @ 26.2

Total- 900 runs from 19 innings @ 47.36

:D

In all honesty Australia will be pretty well served by either of them as they are both fantastic batsman. Rogers is more technically correct, but Jacques has a mental grit about him and not to mention hits the ball a hell of a lot harder.

And really Hayden will retire pretty soon one would reckon and IMO we've got two pretty solid left handers to take over where he and JL left off....

So his home average is only 44 runs ahead of his away average...still better than Rogers.

I think we've seen the last of Ted Ed Fred in this fread.
