Loved seeing polec grow as a footballer with us... (we have given him a harder edge to go with his outside game) would be very disappointed if he left.... one of my favorites...

He's a unique player Poly , gets to a lot of contests . He can get lazy and that makes a bit sloppy in his tackling and disposal , I guess that's why we haven't offered him the big bucks that North have .
His last two weeks have been excellent , he's been really focused , if he could guarantee he'd play like that every week he probably is worth the money as one of the top players in the team .
I hope he stays but if he leaves and it helps us get Rankine , Lukosios, Walsh or one of the Kings I'd get over it.

If he leaves I don’t see a situation where we get anything worse than their first pick.
6-800k p/y for 4-5 years is around automatic first rounder I’d have thought.
I’d prefer to keep him but at least the compensation is about right.

He's top 5 in our b&f this year at the very least. Provides the most run in our team and is the best user of the footy we have.
We have a real deficiency of run and carry in the midfield outside of Polec and Motlop. Our depth in this area is pretty much Amon and Barry. Losing Polec and bringing in one of these two players (Amon in particular) as a best 22 fixture to maintain our structure would be a massive downgrade, and one of which that simply couldn't be replaced quickly via the draft.

Take out him and Motlop and we are treacle slow, with little to know back to front half ball carry.

Fox Footy showed a graphic tonight that indicated something like 50 AFL players are on $700k or more. Is Polec a top 50 player in the comp? Maybe top 100 but I wouldn't have thought top 50. I hope we keep him but he's not a Wines or Wingard like franchise player, you don't break the bank to keep him.

This is his fifth year at our club, he is not a free agent so compo is not a question, it would have to be a trade. And we would be able to demand North's first-rounder which would be better than ours. But I'd much sooner he re-signed with us instead of getting a pick. Can't really see North relinquishing what would be a top 10 pick in this draft anyway and I wouldn't put any credibility in their chasing of players as their recent success rate chasing stars is approximately 0%.

I'm not sure why. The general consensus is that he's a very valuable player to us and we want to keep him but if we're being asked to match an offer $250k above where we value him, we can't do it.

Losing him would really set us back and I don't believe for a second we'd be able to replace him. We don't have a single player on our list that's even close to being able to bring what he does to our game.

We've turned Polec from a flakey injury riddled kid into the top 5 pick he was drafted as. We're in a flag window, play a style of game which brings out his strengths reside in his home state and are the club he grew up supporting.
I'd be utterly baffled if he left, let alone to a club like North. It would be a horrible and short-sighted career move.
