Can they put clauses in his contract stating that if he gets a career ending injury we dont have to pay im out the full contract amout?
Get something like that in there and a long term deal isnt a big issue.

Diluted talent pool, clubs like North desperate to land someone from somewhere etc. he'd be mad not to look at 5 years on stupid money with his injury issues.

North have to pay the minimum of the cap like everyone else and 700k won't be huge money in a few year's time. Landing a talent like Polec would be a big win for them. Still dont think he'll go though.

Have a look at yours. Trade one of our most important players, who's role will result in clangers as he takes the risky kicks to set our play up. He'd be in the top 5 of our best and fairest
And the Wingard and Wines comments were a joke, I thought you may have picked that up "champ".
Polec is is an essential lock in our current side! To suggest otherwise is ludicrous! His efficiency and clangers are no worse than Wines, Boak, Ebert, and Wingard et-al. If he had a right leg, he would be in the AFL elite group. I certainly hope he stays, but if he accepts some ridiculous offer and we get well-recompensed, then I won't complain either.

Anyone with half a idea knows how good Jared is, and how important to our side he is. Trading him is up there with some of the silliest ideas I've heard. Not to be "pathetic" again but it's the same as the trade Wingard and Wines nonsense that was in favour with a few posters a few months ago.

Just listened to it, sounds different to Wines talk for sure but from what I have heard of Polec say in the past I don't think he'd really want to leave, he loves PAFC. But you never know I guess do yo, maybe Port are far more resolute in what they have offered him and won't budge much, maybe it's all bluff. He has some great skills that we don't have in our side so it would be a loss.

PORT Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley isn't nervous winger Jared Polec hasn't re-signed for next year, but concedes the Power won't be able to match North Melbourne's reported $3.5 million, five-year deal.
"I don't know if you get nervous, but you understand the reality," Hinkley said.
"The reality is there's still a decision to be made and sometimes the decisions are a bit different.
"It's a negotiation of what you're trying to achieve and maybe you're playing a game of cards where you're holding out a little, both are trying to get what they want.
