Can Confirm we have been in his ear... alot.
Also can confirm that his preference is to stay at Hawthorn but he has certainly not ruled out a trade. If he does leave, it will NOT be to the GC. Has stated that we will be the preference if he walks out, but he will not leave Hawthorn empy handed, and will make sure they get a fair deal.

Any idea about the sort of compensation that will be heading towards the Dawks if this comes off? I am sure that it is going to be a combination of picks and players that will be going in both directions.

I would hazard a guess and say that unless t-bird can force his way back into the squad, then he might be part of the package heading their way.

Ive said it before and ill say it again, stop worrying about Bryce. He is not leaving and has made a career long commitment to Carlton. He will be a Blue until he retires.

As always mate, your opinion about contracts and transfers and inside info at the club is muchly appreciated and is usually 100% correct.

I will be happy once he has put the pen to paper and signed, but I think that all parties might be holding off on signing until things may be sorted out with Roughead.

Sorry for going on about it, but I was starting to get a bit concerned. But thanks for clearing it up, appreciate it. :thumbsu:

Not a worry wart a worry Toad:D

Thanks for the info BIB, sounds good. Reckon your trade prediction sounds about right too.

and will make sure they get a fair deal.

This cliche always makes me laugh, it sounds nice but it's the clubs who finalise the trade, not the player. He'll want his new club to be as strong as possible when/if he joins them.

Well your actaully wrong there Sin. The players are the ones who sign the dotted line last of all. Once the trade has been wroked out between clubs, the final step is for the players to sign the deal, and believe me when i tell you, that if Roughhead comes to Carlton, he will not sign that peice of paper if he belives Hawthorn has not been catered for.
Love reading your posts Blueinblood you always seems to be giving us something to think about:thumbsu: Would love Roughy in the navy blue next year!!!

Why would he want that at all? If Hawthorn agree on a deal doesn't that mean they believe they're fairly compensated regardless of what Roughead thinks?

At least this confirms that we're actively seeking a strong KPF in the trade period.
It probably wont be Roughy but looks like we'll be landing a solid prospect for the 4th year in a row :thumbsu:
Our off field hierachy of Greg Swan and co. are bloody good.

Great News BIB!

Lets hope Swanny can work his magic.

IMO Roughie is the number 1 target, wouldn't want anyone else is the comp over him. His age and position are exactly what we need. now fingers crossed more of their rucks go down to force their hand on hampson.

No inside knowledge on what the trade would be. I doubt even the club would have sat down and thought about it, given the amount of variables from no until Trade Week.

My prediciton at this stage would be:
Our first rounder and 3rd rounder, Hampson, Thornton . Austin would be a chance if he can get back into the team.

At this stage its all very unlikely.

I doubt that they wouldn't have.
Swann and Icke are too pragmatic to fall into a let's wait and see scenario.

The footballing department would have all sorts of ratings systems on each player as to whether they're best suited to drop into the game we will ultimately be playing.
St.Kilda in particular has and look at their results.
They'll lose a player or two and you wouldn't know the difference as players as deep as 28 just drop into the slot and away they go.

Don't worry they'll have all sorts of names placed in the right places ready to embark on any situation that may come their way.

And so they should be.

Laziness can creep into all sectors of employment, upper echelon included.
If they have planted the seeds with Roughies management already they may be only 1% in front of the next person but you'll never really know just when and where that 1% may make the difference.
No easy task getting an A-grader to your club, but I'd suggest the harder you work the better your chances may be.

As commented previously, Roughead would make sense of our forward line.
It may be a long shot getting him over, but somehow I don't think our boys will fall short for lack of trying. :thumbsu:

If we can get Roughead, we'll lose plenty so we better had get used to that fact.

Would it be fair to say that the twin towers set up has not really worked to any great advantages for Hawthorn in the past 18 months?
A situation where they may attain a quality ruckman and a tall mid and a forward line speedster may become a lot more palatable come years end than we could have imagined only 2 years ago.

I still think if we want to win a flag soon or at least with Juddy still playing like a man possessed we need to lure a big forward for next season!! The young guys like Hendo,Yazz,Jeff,Robbo will be all the better with another season under their belts but a big key forward would be the missing link to set the Blues towards a flag next year.Roughy would be a perfect fit:thumbsu:

I have it on very good authority (sorry can't reveal) that Hawthorn have not yet resigned themselves to losing Roughead, and in fact still consider him a part of future plans. Also they are yet to fully consider trade week, and are trying to remain focused on season 2010 - talk about heads in the sand:eek:

Also picked up a whisper that should Roughead become available, 15 other clubs would be interested.

Anyhow gotta go...off to a meeting at the CBA...I mean the CPA...or is the the LSD...err...you know what I mean.

It's funny because you got rid of a perfectly good one (on the field that is).

Hampson, Grigg and Garlett (to play with his cousin)??? I'd prefer to keep the new Krakouer brothers together ;)

Interesting read this. Always rated Roughy better then even Buddy so would be a huge loss for us.

However, the problems with your idea is the following:
1. If you get Roughy then you need to also get Buddy, Lewis and Murphy as they are all best mates.
2. To even get him you would give up say at least 1 of your best players (top 5 on your list) and another very good player and on top of that you first draft pick. For such a young side that would be work too much against you. Think back to the Judd deal and how in the long term you probably lost that deal in hind sight.
3. His name is been thrown around Hawthorn as potentially a future captain where as I doubt that would ever happen at Carlton. He already more commands the forward line and probably coaches the forwards better then our spud forward line coach.

My opinion is that you guys have enough midfield depth to cover for a KPF in a similar way Dogs did the last couple of seasons. Players such as Judd, Murphy, Kreuz and Betts all can kick 40+ goals a year and will be a nightmare to coach against. Having Roughy in your side could possibly hinder that and may even work against you as he has a mighty huge presence at times.
