Been absolutely thrashing Jay-Z at the moment.

Got 4 studio albums;
Reasonable Doubt
The Blueprint
The Black Album
American Gangster

The Blueprint and The Black Album are my favourite at the moment, but his live MTV unplugged album with The Roots is what I play most. One of my favourite live albums of all times, great guest performances and really shows Jay-Z at his finest.
Easily my favourite track from that album;

Also listened to his Glastonbury performance, which was quite good, though at times I felt he was trying too hard to fit in with the rock crowd. Still you have to love him coming out with Wonderwall after what Noel Gallagher said about him :thumbsu:

Any other fans?

The Roc boys in the building tonight, oh what a feeling im feeling life, you don't even have to get your papers out we the dope boys of the year, drinks is on the house.. WE IN THA HOOOUUSE

Just kidding merv!

Where were we...Jay Z.Yeah nah,rap died in the late 90's imo.He should stick to producing....i assume he produces?God i sound like...you know who....

I can't get enough of Jay-Z. He's such a clever lyricist and it's amazing that he's made an incredible ammount of money and still managed to stay real and not sell out. He'd easily be in my top 3 rappers, if not my favourite. IMO "The Takeover" is his best song, I don't know why anyone would try and diss him after that, it can only result in utter defeat.

Best rapper alive...

The Black Album is a classic and I have found that he appeals to a wide variety of music lovers. A lot of mates that are into metal and rock seem to like Jay-Z aswell.

I like the "grey album" bastardisation with danger mouse.

Minus a few PE and NWA albums i'm not a huge fan of hip hop/rap etc.

However 99 problems gets a flogging
Forgot to mention that, great album.

On the topic of The Grey Album, some guy also did one called The Double Black Album. Same concept, but switch The Beatles with Metallica. No where near as good, but had a couple of good mash-ups on it.

Has anyone gotten into Jaydiohead?

Bit of a Jay-Z and Radiohead mix up album.

It's getting EXCELLENT reviews from both sides of the fence

I'm a big hip hop fan but I can't get into Jay Z. His flow just doesn't do it for me - his rapping always seems out of whack and off kilter.

I declare myself the world's biggest authority on Jay-Z.
Reasonable Doubt is a classic, one of the great albums
Vol 1 is one of his weaker efforts, but still listenable
Vol 2 I quite like, there are many good tracks, one of his more underrated albums
Vol 3 has some absolute trash, it is terrible
Dynasty is a great album, probably his most underrated
Blueprint is an obvious great album, but probably a touch overrated given it has some trash like Jigga that Ni**a, All I need etc
Blueprint 2 is ass
Black Album is very good
Kingdom Come not so much
and American Gangster IMO is his third best album, a really good one
A few tracks have leaked for blueprint 3, it sounds like it should be good, although none of the songs are amazing

I was never really a rap person until I heard Jay-Z on that Collision Course mash up thing with Linkin Park. I'm still not massively into rap, there are only a few rappers I can handle listening to for an extended period, but Jay-Z is the best IMO.

The Black Album would probably be in my top 10 favourite albums of all time. That MTV unplugged album is great too, it's a great way to get into some of his better songs.

What does everyone think of the couple new songs that he's had leaked in the past year? Jockin' Jay-Z and Brooklyn Go Hard

Jockin Jay-Z isn't a great song but okay for a single. He has also leaked Swagga Like Us and We Made History, those as well as Brooklyn Go Hard are due to appear on the Blueprint 3. I wouldn't say any are fantastic

He's releasing a new album? Hasn't he retired about 5 times already?

Aside from Reasonable Doubt I've never got into him much. D'evils is my favourite song of his.

He 'retired' once. He basically became a huge bitch after the beef with Nas and was pissed off that the Hip Hop community sided with Nas. His last two pre-retirement albums, Blueprint 2 and The Black Album, were both very bitter and jaded, full of statements about how he isn't appreciated.

However he never stopped making music. He appeared in a bunch of guest appearances in that time, Executive produced Fort Minor's album (Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park's side project) and did the Linkin Park mash up. Then went to Kingdom Come.

If you only enjoy reasonable doubt, you might find you'll like American Gangster. The subject matter is very similar and it doesn't have any commercial crap songs made just for a single, which Jay-Z normally has 1-2 per album.
