Farewell Whitey. Those stupid ruck circle rules curtailed your career, but you have been a fantastic servant for the club and held up the no.1 ruck mantle for many years. I remember the 1998 season when we saw more than just the odd flash of brilliance, those speccies that seemed to happen at least twice a season and when you became the prototype modern ruckman in 2004.

Thanks for the memories big fella :thumbsu: .

Greatest Jeff White moment of all time:

Receiving a free kick from a ruck infringement by Wade Skipper at the Punt Road end of the MCG. 50 meters out, basically wedged up on the boundary line. Melbourne's 2005 finals hopes are riding on this solitary kick. Jeffery lines it up and rides that baby home! MCG erupts! Jeff White!

I don't think I've cried much at the footy but that was definitely a keeper:thumbsu:

I'll miss the big fella, top bloke and was great to watch:(

Very good player and i am still amazed by the marks he took, i will say in the past two years i have not been happy with the way he has played and givin him the nickname "Mr Sideways".

Having said that he was a champion of our footy club and i remember how pumped i was the day we got him and he did not let us down.

Well done J White

Enjoy your tour card~ :D

Champion player and top bloke :thumbsu:

I still cringe when I think back to the 2005 elim when he got his face kicked in by Steven King. 9 screws and a titanium plate later and he was back out there giving his best.

All the best Whitey.

He has been a champion player for our club, and one of the best and most consistent ruckmen in the last two decades. In his prime, he was so exciting to watch and we couldn't really have asked for much more from a ruckman. He was quite durable too, having not missed a game from 2003-2008, despite suffering shin problems (and Steven Kings giant boot to the face).

At one stage in 2004, he was the equal Brownlow Medal favourite, and that season he went on to win the Best & Fairest and All Australian selection.

Well done Jeffrey.

what a champ..will always remember that game against the Bullies where he kicked a goal from 50 out on the boundry to send us to the 05 finals what a kick, what a player
everyone get to the G on Sunday to support Whitey and The Ooze:)
thanks for the memories boys and good luck

i remember the 1998 preliminary final, the voice of the G announced that Jeff White had over come a knee injury from the previous match and would be playing. every melbourne fan in the crowd cheered. unfortunately there wasn't much else to cheer for in that game
=[
