Jesse Hogan Contract Negotiations (Titus O'Reilly)

I am not sure if this has been mentioned but Gold Coast could be the big winners out of our current form slump. We have already traded our 2016 2nd round draft pick. At the time we probably thought it would be about pick 40 but looks like it could be around 20!!!

The idea would have had merit if the pick we got last year was showing something but I'm pretty sure the pick we got from GC last year in exchange for this years 2nd rounder was used on Harley Balic, who has to overcome a serious injury and is also a bit of a go home risk.

Would of been nice to have access to Adams for this pick but I think he went the pick before if I recall?

Yep. Just before our pick.

In what way is he a go home risk ?
Incidentally following his recent surgery I saw him running after the main session last Friday.
Harley seemed in good spirits.

Me too and presumably so does Ross. I wonder then, why he proceeded to beat the flair and instinctive football out of Hayden Crozier, to mention one player.
There was talk coming out of the club that Ross was not playing Weller last year because he wasn't playing defensive football.
Of course we all speculated on this board that we were running a high risk of Lachie Weller saying stuff this I'm heading home because of perceived lack of opportunity.
A lot of posters were saying that re Weller from both Dockers and Saints. Weller answered it fairly emphatically with a contract extension. How many times has Crozier extended under Lyon?

The club has rarely lost any essential players in recent years.

Balic calls himself a “bit of mother’s boy’’. He’s particularly close to his mother and she was overwhelmed at the thought of him relocating to Perth.

After his selection he went off to do some media with Fremantle. When he returned he saw his dad on the phone in tears. He jokingly said he would pay him $70,000 to stay in Melbourne. Later, as the family gathered for a dinner with Dockers officials, his mother’s eyes were red as she arrived in the foyer.

Welcome to 2015. This has been covered at length on these boards since this story broke. It was tongue in cheek and he's genuinely excited to be here with his close mate and teammate back home - Ed Langdon.

DeBoer was a late change through injury, pulled up sore after the final training session.

So Nic Nat got two in that last game. Tough nut is DeBoer, I agree with a few others that he may still be useful at centre bounces as an inside mid, more useful than Subes at least.

Mummy's boys tend to forget their mummies when they move out of home and realise WA, if nothing else, is home to an uncommon proportion of hornbags.

So it looks like we'll be down the lower ends of the table this year. Should we look to trade out a pick around 3-6 as part of a package for Jesse Hogan or hope we land a Josh Battle with whatever pick we have or reach for a Luke Strnadica who's a WA boy?

Trade or draft? I know Hogan holds immense value for Melbourne but the draft looks mid heavy with talent and the Dees probably to strengthen in that area more than anything. I'm sure they'll be gutted to lose him but if they pick up some mid talent when they would be looking to in all likelihood lose Hogan down the track anyway, they might come around?

Don't know. My friend who lives at the centre of the universe reckons Sydney is the easiest place to pick up.

Former Brisbane great Brown has made the statement that Fremantle should offer Hogan a $15,000,000 contract over 10 years as he considers him to be a once in 20 year player and that Fremantle could rebuild a team around .
This is not as crazy as it first appears with the growth in the salary cap and The fact that he is a WA boy .
I think its overs but it would have to be in the ball park to get the job done .
A forward line that includes Walters ,Taberner ,Hogan and McCarthy has a good look to it

I wouldn't bat an eyelid if we done that deal.

Finish last next year, let him walk pre-season, imagine the stir that would cause.

I can't see it happening, Melbourne look like they have it together finally, we on the other hand don't although Hogan would be the difference to us between being around the 8 and being contenders.

to me he looked happier last year when they were rabble but he was starring each week.
