Jesse Hogan Contract Negotiations (Titus O'Reilly)

Hating is way more fun.

I even hate on posters who agree with me.
Not that there's many that do ......

Have another crack at him in 3 years time...hopefully the players association's push for free agency after 6 years, not 8 years will go through.

Positive too that he said when he was thinking of returning to WA his preference was Freo not the Weagles :)

Did he? I guess that's why the West ran with the headline 'why Jesse snubbed Freo'...
Wouldn't that suggest he snubbed WC that little bit more though?

Trying my best to feel ok that he won't be in purple next year...

That's because he was a contracted player, so we badgered his manager Jason Dover instead.
Brad Hill is a contracted player and he had lunch or whatever with RTB.

I'm sure we had "ongoing discussions" with his management. Especially as Jason manages half our team (including Messers Fyfe and Hill)

Edit: Harry - not having a go, just pointing out the difference between players who are planning on moving clubs vs players who are kinda/sorta thinking about it.

I hate it when a thread like this turns into a coroner's report.

Can't we close it before it turns into an obituaries listing with the inevitable funeral notice?

Or is there a wake to be announced soon?
HOGAN, Jesse.

It is with great sadness that Freo FC advises of the passing of the opportunity for Jesse to take his rightful place amongst the Freo playing list.
Jesse's condition was always listed as critical and such a move was hanging by a thread for many months. Sadly that thread broke in the early hours of Tuesday morning bringing great sorrow to his many supporters amongst the Freo faithful.
The congregation are advised not to send flowers and in the best Freo tradition, are urged to hold their own wakes celebrating another big name signing which never happened.

This article puts a very different spin on this whole saga. Are there serious issues at Freo?
This is the quote you are referring to:

“But I was with a parent of a Melbourne player on the weekend who said to me that his son said he (Hogan) was gone – on Friday he told me that.

“Then he’s turned around and signed on Monday, so the earth has moved in Fremantle I reckon because I reckon there are some real problems there.

“I think it’s a problem for the AFL, if no one wants to go there that’s a problem, it’s a bit like Brisbane two or three years ago.”

Shows that Brian Waldron is a knob. Because he was given incorrect information on the weekend, it must mean that Fremantle has some real problems. And apparently a marquee forward re signing with his club (which is what normally happens) is just like an exodus of young players from Brisbane.

What is it with St. Kilda people?

Sorry to post on your board, but was listening to this today live and had to seriously laugh out loud.

The reason he said that was because a caller (probably a Melbourne supporter) rang up to give him shit about getting it wrong (he's been going pretty hard on the Jesse to Freo scenario). After he blamed a bunch of people in WA for the bad info, he was able to spin that situation into Fremantle having a problem with getting players over there - which KB went along with. He even said the AFL should be worried :/

He basically just makes up trades and puts question marks on every unsigned player. A few months ago I heard him talking about Gaff for WC being a massive certainty to leave, as I checked the AFL website to read he had re-signed that hour.

I'd love for there to be truth to his comments that there are problems at Freo, but Brian Waldron oversaw the blatant salary cap cheating at Melbourne Storm and is a regular contributor to the collection of idiots* called 6PR sports talk. I'd take anything he says with a grain of salt

*I'll exempt Luke McPharlin from the idiot accusation. I don't mind him

If we did have problems players would be lining up to leave. We have moved on players that don't seem to be part of the re build and kept all the players that we want to keep - and wanted to stay

I've always been of the opinion that player retention is of a much higher importance than being a destination club. West coast haven't exactly lured any massive names over other than those wanting to come home.

I think the wa travel factor is a massive issue for both clubs when trying to get non wa players to come here - or those used to not travelling at least

I worry that we do have some problems (of the Harley kind). But this wouldn't cause people to want to leave if it's widespread enough

I think most clubs would have those kind of issues tbh. Just a case of how well the club either a) turns a blind eye or b) helps the players deal with it

Yep. FYFE and Weller or GTFO.

And proper Fyfe. I don't want the broken down, one legged, thinking about going home version you've got now.
We're not freo.

I'm more worried about the club up the river from you boys anyway.
it seems your following the lead of GWS. I see you are using Tough Man Tony Abbott tactics.
.
It seems because Hogan has signed for 2 more years, You have grown a pair of.... walnuts in your budgie smugglers.

I completely agree there. The AFL should be worried - and give us a priority pick for the next 5 years, a cost of living allowance for our players due to the high costs of living in Perth, a travel allowance for having to fly every second week, and assistance poaching the best assistant coaches from around Australia. I fear that will be the only way Freo will survive.
