And there have been years where our preseason form has continued in the main season.

The effort will improve but where is the run coming from? Their outside run smashed ours.

Look at the TOG of key players, should say all it needs to about how we treated this game after half time.

Hartigan looks seriously slow which is a concern.

He always takes a few games to blow away the cobwebs, so ill give him that, but he just looked big, heavy and slow. Very similar to the path Jenkins went down. Im a tad concerned.

Not too fussed by the result tbh.

However, our run of half back, or lack thereof, is a concern. It also means we need an extra runner to try and generate that. Jenkins should be dropped on that basis.

Hartigan's form is a concern too. He was garbage every time he got near it.

Some good, lots bad, but there's some clear signs on offer. Fogarty looks good, Doedee should be there in Round 1, CEY and Hampton should be good depth, Murphy active in the forward line. JJ needs some confidence and some mongrel ASAP, it's not that he's bad, he's utterly failing to have any sort of impact on the game. It's almost like we're one short and with Fogarty showing some signs up forward, he needs to lift.

They've barely played the 2nd half. I don't think Gibbs would have more than 60% game time. Absolutely no point risking key players in 35 degree heat.

He and Sloane both about 60% TOG

Based on JTL 1 & 2 ....plus his GF effort ....if The Soft As Butter Jenkins plays round 1 ahead of Fogarty.....our selection committee and coaching panel is a COMPLETE JOKE.....on current form Jenkins is the WORST tall in the AFL !!!

Chill out a bit! A JLT trial game at Alberton for no premiership points. Heard a commentator call it the 'summer showdown.'
He got the summer part right... heat wise, but showdown please. Nothing game, review it and move on and get ready for round one.

Worst thing out of the game is Hartigan and Jenkins - both were bad even in the first half.

Liked Atkins and CEY and the Fog.

Second half we were in full "FFS, don't get injured or kill yourself running hard in a 35C while playing a nothing game" mode. Port still cared. And in any game when one side switches off, the other side will always run away with it.

There were a few times in the second half where players were watching the ball and waiting for someone else in a way they never would in a real game (and in a way they didn't in the first half). Wasn't much of a mood to go in hard.

Really wish we had a few of the younger guys played - really missed getting a chance to see Milera, Gallucci and Polhoke.
Gibson gets a lot of nothing touches, good depth, but depth. Would play him ahead of Mackay, though.
Did McGovern forget how to mark???

Umpiring was lousy - over officiated in the first half, missed a lot of holds. Gibbs seemed as invisible to the umps as Phillips was in yesterday's game.

EDIT - Oh yeah, I forgot. Fog. A FRICKEN GUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even looked handy in defence. Nice to have the 32 mean something again

Yeah have to agree. Even his value as the second ruck is useless. Rather just have to stick anyone in the ruck to spell sauce than have Jenkins play atm.

Don't overlook the fact our leg speed is a concern.....or that our defence is as brittle as rice paper. Way too many easy goals conceded.
