The late 90’s??.... try the early 90’s... I used to go watch them and bands like raisin toast, slingshot, clowns of decadence, the birdmen in the very early 90’s at lennies and other venues down the bay... went to school with a lot of the lads that played in many of those bands.

I referring to them being good. They were pretty average in the early days.

I went to uni with the raisin toast boys. There was a pretty vibrant ADELAIDE pub rock scene then. You are right , it was the early nineties

The clams weren’t that bad.. but you’re probably right... the other bands I mentioned were better.. the clowns of decadence always put on a great show in the early 90’s, raisin toast were always great.. the hard ons were awesome live and I saw them a couple of times down the bay in those days and there was band from vicco called “the fat thing” if I recall that played at lennies a couple of times that put on a good show..

Then most Saturday nights at lennies they had the Zep Boys... bit of a rough biker crowd up the back those nights but still they were a bloody great led zeppelin cover band.

Sacred heart/Hallett cove lads... great lads and good surfers too..

The live band scene back in adelaide in those days was bloody awesome, where’s the pope and mark of Cain were two others that were bloody good too.. then the pokies arrived and many of the stage areas at the regular venues turned into pokie rooms... killed it all.

Out of all the players of you to think are good and bad, I’m surprised you put Gibson in the good basket.

He’s mediocre, nothing player that wins the hard ball and hacks it forward. A depth player in a top 4 quality side, nothing more and he showed exactly that today.

That’s a lot to take out of a scratch match

We had our B team of CEY, Greenwood and Hampton at a big percentage of the stoppages and Centre contests, and still pantsed your mob at the clearances.

Spot on.

Not to mention that when the game was on the line in the last quarter with only a couple of points in it, Ports midfield was mostly Ebert/Wines/Gray. Adelaide went mostly with Greenwood/CEY/Douglas/Betts with only the odd cameo from one of Gibbs/Crouch/Sloane with Gibbs having time at half back and Sloane on a wing.

Both Eddie and JJ have runs on the board. The "groupthink" on this board towards JJ is frankly a disgrace.

Yep JJ didn't have a great grand final, but he's become a scapegoat. He had plenty of mates.

My pick for most improved this year. Was disappointing last year and he's got oodles of talent, I reckon this will be a big year for him.

He seemed to take always the first option today - no mucking around trying to dodge oppo players.

JJ and McGovern have been very quiet
