This is a result of them not understanding how it works. Journalists haven't covered themselves in glory either.

If Jurassic Park taught us anything, it's that nature is unpredictable and there's always a smart person with warnings that nobody wants to listen to.

But a lot of the push back is just stubborn people insisting they know better. Instead of cleaning out the amateur epidemiologists from their social media feeds, they dive in believing the promises of some internet wannabe gadfly.

Maybe if the WHO hadn't come across as so shady and corrupt from the start of this more people would have had more faith in what was being said.

When the world's leading Health Organisation looks like it's on the take then trust gets eroded.

There is a section of the population that is always looking for an excuse to buck any sort of perceived authority.

They will zero in on anything that they can twist and make out to be dodgy.

Rogan should know better than to give these grifters free airtime with barely any pushback on their lies.

The biggest grifters of all are politicians.

Maybe that's why people turn away from anything they say and look for alternative views.

I am sure they often are. But that doesn't mean the anti-vaxers get a free pass.

10 million downloads, subtract however many people have him on download but don't listen, is a huge personal audience. But compared to the whole world he's niche.

I reckon if he kept his episodes to 1hr he would be way bigger.

3 hours or whatever is just way too long for most, me included.

There's certainly some i tune out pretty early but the length does make it pretty hard to come in and the guest only gets out their pre prepared stuff like they would in MSM. Rogan can take the convo anywhere so I can find that can help get a better read of the guest. For example the Blink 182 nutjob might have made some sense in a 30 minute pod but the longer it went on the clearer he was off the rails.

Some of the episodes you can find a transcript to scan through. But it's pretty dodgy. A lot of wrong words and misattributions to Rogan or the guest.

It's good that he let's the guest speak and go off in tangents but I think a little more structure would help when it comes to packaging the show. It wouldn't be that hard to know in advance the main topics someone might want to talk about and steer the conversation at times.

Lucky there are heroes like yourself to censor opinions on a tiny section of the interwebs then! God forbid someone points out utter nonsense like we see here every single day

Some of his older stuff with more obscure guests were better. For example the drug cartel journalist in Mexico is a great episode and the guy who got held hostage for 2 years by pirates. Some fascinating stuff

Tyson Fury is one of the best eps. Only goes for an hour

Now its more celebrity and current affairs opinions rather than people telling their story

I do enjoy some of his big name guests like Fury, I also enjoyed people like RDJ, Jewel etc. I think there is a reluctance to have guests that won't come into the studio unless its not possible like Snowden, this with the impact of covid and his move to Austin has probably limited some of the bigger name guests he could get in LA.

He went pretty heavy on on the comedian friends during the first year of covid which killed it a bit for me, I really don't find a lot of them interesting or funny and its not surprising they're the ones that were struggling at that time. Agree re the obscure guests, even the ones I might not agree with which is possible... don't censor me from them interwebs.

Brian Stelter likes this.

Try watching Joe's podcasts with Kyle Kulinski or Bernie Sanders. Probably pissed many off on the right but Joe was great in those podcasts. Listened and agreed with much that was said, at the risk of alienating the supporter base on the right.

That's because the average person on the "left" and "right" actually share economic pain and class division without even knowing it, because everyone is so focussed on narrow cultural issues. "We're not the same, you're anti-trans" or "we're not the same, you own a gun".

Watch Sanders do a Fox Town Hall from one of his campaigns. He's got "hard core right wingers" vehemently agreeing with him on fundamental economic issues like income tax, health care, social security and minimum wage.

I listen to probably 60-70% of Rogan's podcasts because I find them interesting. I find his interviews interesting whether it's Shapiro or Kulinski or Dore because they invoke thought and challenge my thinking. I also enjoyed Maynard Keenan x3, Tim Dillon is hilarious and recently Carrot Top was very interesting.

I also don't get medical advice from him.

The establishment media hate him and try to cut him down constantly because he's a threat. If CNN etc weren't so full of sh*t then they wouldn't have a problem.

Probably a shade of that.

But just because you don't take medical advice from him, doesn't mean there aren't a big slab of his audience taking in the lies of people like Malone and heading down the rabbit hole.

People can take information from wherever they like. Are there people who don't have the ability to think critically and just blindly follow whatever Rogan and his guests say ("the rabbit hole") - of course. I'd argue there are even more people who blindly follow what corporate news says, sometimes to their own detriment.

I get my medical advice from my doctor and from scientists. I get my political information from a variety of sources. I get my entertainment from whatever entertains me.

In my opinion, are people who listen to Rogan for medical advice dumb? Yes. But I can't control what other people listen to or enjoy and nor should I be able to.

For sure. But there are some things that need to be called out to try and get proper information as good a coverage as misinformation. Rogan could improve by finding out more himself, or at least getting advice from proper sources. There's a point where the Alfred E. Neuman thing is damaging, not mind-expanding.

The latest chat with Jordan Peterson is out. 4 hours and 15 minutes! I might need the edited highlights.

But early on he talks about the fastest way to fix environmental problems is to raise the living standards of the very poor. By necessity, they have a short term view of the resources around them. Once their survival is more secure they can think about how to make their environment sustainable in the long term. Cultural stuff like trans issues and ethnic representation in TV shows would be a long way down their priorities list.

Improving the lot of the poor sounds like a Socialist idea and you would think that poverty would be the main issue taken up by the left. But the current representatives, most from fairly privileged positions, are more concerned with the narrow cultural issues that divide us.

I think there needs to be an updated re-evaluation of class in the light of changes in the last couple of years.

You know Jurrasic Park is a made up Hollywood movie and that they really didn't bring dinosaurs back from the dead don't you?

🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
