For those with Bowden in their team.

Doing a little covert detective work I stumbled upon the following information posted by a Richmond fan who attended the RFC training session today.

"Interestingly Joel Bowden was working with the midfield group in a defensive role and played no part with the back line unit."

Now that makes me nervous. Very, very nervous. Bowden is a very good player, however he is no Kornes. If he is getting a tagging role then his number will contiue to drop, dramatically.

This isn't a case of a player losing form. He is being asked to play a completely different role, especially one that will see his numbers dry up. Most will know that Bowden's high scores come from cheap kicks and marks in the backline.

I'm concerned. I won't trade him this week (unless he's dropped because that will force my hand) however if he continues to play as a tagger and his numbers drop I will have no choice. :(

Wow, geez i hope thats not true, then again hes being a dud atm, so the only thing that would piss me off about tradeing him is using the trade.

And losing alot of $$$. I was actually going to hold off on Bowden at the start of the season because of his slow start last year, the teams he was playing and his poor pre-season.

Stupid me. :(

Makes you wonder if Wally will move him back to his original role at all.

Sigh my backline was meant to be my strength and I guess beside Bowden it still is..

C.Cornes, Bowden, H.Shaw, Gilbee, Milburn, Mattner and Bradshaw.

Bowden has 2-3 more weeks to prove himself.

Could be 2-3 more weeks to lose $100,000k value and make an upgrade to a premium def unaffordable. I was going to suggest waiting for the teams to come out but we all know the position they are named at wont be the one where they actually play.

Money comes and money goes.

I'd rather give a proven performer a chance to bounce back. However I have little faith that Bowden will rack up points as a tagger ala K.Cornes or Kirk. If Wallet insists on playing him as a tagger I will jump off, but will still wait 2-3 weeks. I have a few cash cows that are moo'ing nicely at the moment so if I have to take a 100k hit so be it.

there is no one to trade bowden to i.m.o

sure gilbee and shaw are getting big scores but once they get tagged which will happen eventually there scores will plummet:thumbsd:

If this is true, hopefully it was just a training drill or they were experimenting with some of their midfield and Bowden was just a training aid.

They wont, they play off half back.

yes they will be tagged they where last season

i remember when kornes tagged the hell out of gilbee last season and he only got 20 or 30 odd which proves he cant handle being tagged and the same with shaw

Kornes did the same to Kenelly, but that is only 1 team that play like that, most other teams prefer to have a spare man at the back as well.

For those who dont have Bowden (like me), im considering picking him up later in the year. Like BJ & Brown his breakeven is massive.

Melbournes print media talk absolute jargon.

I'll believe it when I see it.

AFL.com has printed an article where Wallet in the same interview that he says Bowden will be dropped is said to be saying that he is backing Bowden to bounce back.

I think Wallet has replaced Laidley as my least favourite SC related coach.

There was an article in the age today saying that bowden might line up for coburg this week instead of richmond. I think this is bs. Hopefully wallet reinstates bowden as in the sweeper role and gets 1000000000 kicks a game as he did last year

Its just all media hype. I'll be very surprised if they actually drop him.

Id say they are just using scare tactics to get him to play better.
But with 22 possessions a game, i really dont know what else they are expecting of him???
I think duds like tambling should be dropped first. :D
