Surely John Anthony will be brought in for the game against the Bulldogs? Nathan Brown in the forwardline and John down back.

I hope I'm not posting this in total ignorance that John has an injury or something?
If not surely he must be brought in yeah? Plus bring back Wood and put Bear Bryan in the Goalsquare.

Or vice-versa. JA kick a couple in his first match against the Tigers and the Doggies aren't exactly giants in the backline.

Harris and williams would argue this point with you id imagine, williams is a giant and harris is a big boy too

Lets not kid ourselves Rocca and Trav is a big loss........plus for all those Rocca haters I say wake up and pay attention at how OBVIOUS it is we need Rocca in the forwardline.

Hope he sticks around for 2009 so we can bring in Dawes or somebody.

But anywho despite the loss of trav and rocca we could win this match if we bring the hardness like we did against Geelong.
Make no mistakes the dogs are going great at the moment and have really fixed the problems they had last year.

Plus Aka's recent displays damn....

Medhurst will be our full forward. He kinda is anyway!

Reid should be given licence to roam in a Travis like manner.

I wouldn't mind seeing Jack being given another shot. Can play both ends and has a junior history of playing forward. Has had lots of niggly injuries though.

Yeah I was really surprised to see Reid's disposal states way up there during the Carlton match he was behaving very Travis like.

Which unfortunately is not what we need. We need big bodied forward.

Harris 195cm, Williams 196cm, Anthony 192cm. That's what I mean - they're not giants with the way we match up.

Say we have Anthony and Reid as CHF and FF (giving Wood and Bryan a run as the rucks) then we have a pretty decent height, allowing Medders, Thomas, Didak and (probably) Tarks to feed off the packs or run into space.

Was only thinking about this on the way home from work.

I think changes this week will be JA in for Trav or Cam Wood in for Trav with Josh to play forward as his knee looks like it is really troubling him.

I would give JA a crack at FF at some point. He is quick and I've been very impressed with his accuracy when kicking for goal when he plays forward. He will bring that youthful exuberance too, to attack the footy.

Brown may play forward though given the dogs lack of height up forward.

JA has to play this week. I will be so disappointed if they opt for Cox instead of him. He has deep form in the two's, offers us an option forward or back, and plays with the sort of aggression that we will need against the Dogs.

I would have brought him in anyway before knowing about Cloke, know it has to be a certainty...

Him to the backline, Brown to the goalsquare. Our forwards should be Brown, Reid, Fraser, and Medhurst.

Wood and Goldsack are an equal chance to get a call up with Anthony.

IN: Wood
Out: Cloke

B: H.Shaw, Wakelin, Johnson
HB: R.Shaw, Brown, O'Brien
C: Thomas, Pendlebury, Clarke
HF: Maxwell, Fraser, Didak
F: Lockyer, Reid, Medhurst
R: Wood, Swan, Burns
Int: Bryan, Wellingham, Davis, O'Bree

EMG: Anthony, Cox, Goldsack

H.Shaw vs. Murphy (give him an opponent to work off of)
O'Brien vs. Johnson
R.Shaw vs. Akermanis
Wakelin vs. Minson
Brown vs. Welsh
Maxwell vs. Hahn (yeah I know I named him forward)

This is the way to go about it. Play Bryan deep all day and give Wood another crack.

Ben Reid up the ground presenting.

Excellent point. Like to see the Doggie Stylers use Murphy to take Heath out of the play.

I like those match ups. Perhaps Johnno on Cooney. Johnno or Rhyce to go to Cooney but I recall last year Cooney just pushed forward and outmarked Rhyce. Thinking of that, I'd prefer Cooney away from the middle where he has been doing his damage.

But Rhyce is playing so well at present, it might be worth giving him another crack at Cooney.

Clarke will get murdered.

If Aker is playing in the forward line I think Clarke would be much better than Rhyce. Although I want Clarke to play more in the middle himself he is very good at shadowing forwards. Remember Stokes?

Aker is in red hot form though and likely do well on whoever plays on him but Rhyce needs to play more in the middle

What about putting heater on aker

give him someone to focus on

what do u think?

I actually think that is a good idea as the bulldogs won't sacrifice Aker to keep Heater away from the ball and it will force Aker to be accountable. Heater is very good defensively as well as attacking and it may be what he needs to get back into the game.

Alternatively I wouldn't mind seeing Heath moved into the midfield for patches.

Give MacAffer a run, has been in steady VFL form...either he or Dawes out of the square. Ignite some youth into the side to give a bit of that excitement to the 22 that happened last year.

Also, Wood in for Bryan (even though Fraser's head should be first)
