So now we have two holes to fill with the departures of Barker and Rock.

We have a ready made replacement in Hutchison coming through but we will still need at least one more assistant coach

Would be nice to see a Saints man now on the coaching staff (S. Leowe).

I know Burke and Thommo are there, but time for Ross to imbed himself in the joint rather than bring in the coaching slags who are not thinking about the long term future of the Saints.

John Barker... Gee what a shame, he did wonders for our forward this year didn't he? Roo and Kosi working so well in tandem..

I dunno, Squizz. I hear what you're saying, but gee, there's some incredible forwards out there who would make terrific coaches. Dare I say it, there are better forwards than Buckets. Plugger is an obvious example of a tremendous forward, but I can't see him being a coach, even an assistant. Alistair Lynch might be good. Fraser is an interesting idea, but he is too close to the players I feel.

I think Plugger is too busy these days training greyhounds and riding motorbikes to bother with coaching. Would be nice to see a few ex-Saints players back as assistants though, at least you know they will have the clubs best interests at heart.

Hawthorn Had Simon Goosey, most accurate of any league in the country (supposedly) and our efficiency dropped dramatically.

He got a big head after his efforts in the EJ Whitten Games.

Show me a better example of someone who has turned himself from a fairly tragic kick to one of our more reliable forwards!!! Also became a real leader at the club. No point getting someone who is a natural and asking them to get Kosi into line. Also note who presented Kosi with his jumper.

This is good. He never got our forward line to function and our kicking for goal from set shots has gone backwards. Nice fella but crap coach.

Spud? as in Danny Frawley? he is still defence coach at Hawthorn i believe.

No, he's resigned that post since becoming chief of the AFL Coaches Assoc.
Still, with him taking a new position I can't see him joining the Saints any time soon

Time for a specialist kicking coach?
Kosi needs help with his disposal in general. His field kicking isn't much good either, and this may not be the realm of the forward coach.

Is Leowe still on the MRP? He was a very good forward and agree that his kicking improved greatly over his career, but not sure I would want him teaching others how to kick. Teaching others how to lead and where to go however, different story.

There must be dozens of would-be assistant coaches we can choose from. What if we poach Longmire? ;)

Part of my hesitation with Buckets IS that he's the guy who gave Kosi his jumper - he's played with some of these guys, and that can make it hard to be the "scumbag" that a coach sometimes needs to be with the boys. Now, Heatley, however, that is a very interesting option. Has coached, is a Sainter, but is long enough out of the system to not be too close to the players. Was a darn good FF. I like that option!
