John Winston Howard has set his retirement date finally Nov 24 2007. Finally:thumbsu:
I'm not quite sure what he bowls but he'll have plenty of time to work on it.

Not even a John Howard fan.

Just find it hilarious how he has become the national scapegoat for any problem that crops up in anyone's life.

Scapegoat?? Hardly. Howard has ruined this country. Here's just a few I blame on him and the troubles in my life atm:

Inflation. (Costello being a money whore = mortage re-payments go up = higher interest rates)
GST. (Supposed to eliminate Income Tax = Just another bullshit tax = supposed to get tax cuts =:confused::confused: )
War on Iraq (High fuel prices = less money to buy cool things).
Afghanistan (Still looking for Osama = Fear of Terrorism/Attacks on Australia.)
Not knowing what he is taking about in regards to AFL drug policy. See quote below:

John Howard said:
All drugs are evil
(What about anasethetic you dumb ****)

Cutting funding to services and infrastructure of the states. (Poor public services i.e. Hospitals = I may die waiting for a bed in hospital one day etc.)

Bumbling his way through one day to another. (Just shits me)

Do yourself a favour on November 24th. Don't vote for Howard:thumbsu::)

Pretty sure "Krudd" knows more about scaremongering than Johnny, basically his whole campain revolves around making us believe the country is being run into the ground, personally think we are doing alright, his IR reforms hold little water and exist just to appease the little guy. Basically he cares too much about being trendy.
Personally I don't think alot will change if he does get in, the troops will stay in Iraq, and I don't see any major tax increases, considering his wife is pretty much the biggest capitalist in Australia.
As for all the money promised for schools and hospitals...
Well tell me we haven't heard it all before.

Please. I suppose you also believe the Union is the mafia or Union representatives are criminals. Therese (Kevin's wife) excemplifies exactly what this country is about - taking opportunities and going with it (Like me with women!!!)

Howard & Costello have been masters of the scare campaign for many many elections. Unfortunately a lot of people get sucked in by them.....just look on this board.

Seems to only care about AFL when it involves drugs ...

I bet you if it was his beloved St George Dragons, he wouldn't be going on like a righteous ponce.

Howard would denounce his grandmother's ashes if it made him look prime ministerial.

Scapegoat?? Hardly. Howard has ruined this country.
Yeah, this country is ****ed with its near full employment, rising wages, increasing company profits, etc...

Inflation. (Costello being a money whore = mortage re-payments go up = higher interest rates)
I don't think you can fault them for there being a little bit of inflation due to increasing wages and near full employment.
GST. (Supposed to eliminate Income Tax = Just another bullshit tax = supposed to get tax cuts =:confused::confused: )
It is designed to broaden the tax base. Not eliminate income tax (which is a federal tax). The GST money goes to the states and they were supposed to eliminate a number of different STATE taxes, but some did not (I know in WA they did not eliminate a number they originally agreed to).
War on Iraq (High fuel prices = less money to buy cool things).
They didn't start the war, whether or not they joined would not have changed the price of fuel.
Afghanistan (Still looking for Osama = Fear of Terrorism/Attacks on Australia.)
Are you blaming Howard or Bush for this? I am confused as to why this is a point. Are you saying we should send more troops there to hunt him down ourselves?
Not knowing what he is taking about in regards to AFL drug policy.
Yeah, get rid of him for not knowing the AFL drugs policy like 90% of other people in the country!
Cutting funding to services and infrastructure of the states. (Poor public services i.e. Hospitals = I may die waiting for a bed in hospital one day etc.)
States get more money from the GST revenue so they should have been able to make up the short fall.
Bumbling his way through one day to another. (Just shits me)
Are you describing Rudd or Howard here?

And Rudd would denounce his grandmother's ashes if a poll told him that is what people wanted...

Don't take it so personally, nickyboy. I agree with you. Just watch the sanctimonious way Rudd condemned the chaser boys. Copybook politicking. This dislike of Rudd I can understand but the Howard fetish you've got going is a tad disturbing.

I did not take it personally mate, just having fun at the expense of Rudd while trying to get over this bloody hangover.

But yes, you do have a point there. It is not like I am obsessed with Howard, in fact, I don't really like him as a person. However, I like most of his policies and I can't stand politicians who can't make their own mind up (as Rudd does not seem to be able to do). This has driven me further to Howard over the past 6 or so months. I hate Rudd with a passion. He is not only, as you say, sanctimonious, but also petulant, poll driven, indecisive, sneaky, smitten, hypocritical, a sycophant and more which I can not think of right now in my fragile state of mind.

The Australian public would not be aware of even 5% of the negative legacy this man will leave. Just wait until employees the Murdoch media , the public service and the rest get around to telling the real stories.

do you mean he's not a very nice person...

The little "plate licker" will sprout on about drugs in sport at his leisure because it gives the impression he is tough on drugs, does not cost his government one cent and draws public attention away from the massive "real" drug problem which is destroying lives in our cities and the fact that he has done sweet FA about it, prefering to give friggin massive taxpayer handouts to private schools and health funds.

The bloke is a "squib" and should shut his pompous little gob on any subject involving sport, something he knows absolutely nothing about.

John Howard = a head up an arse (any, usually belonging to a Bush)

this thread really should go to the Society, Religion and Politics board

i tend to keep my political comments confined to that board as a courtesy to other BF users becaase anyone who goes there knows that politics is fair game for discussion

i feel a bit uncomfortable discussing politics with posters i really enjoy talking footy with and have no interest in their political persuasions or philosophies - this thread will serve no purpose other than to frustrate and disappoint

peace

if your worried about drugs in society then have a word to your local state labour government since they are responsible for law and order issues.
the situation we have now in our society awash with drugs is the end result of 35 years of leftist social engineering and decriminalisation of some drugs.

only a demented howard hater frothing at the mouth could possibly blame our johnny for the break down of society..........i suppose ben cousin's slide into the abyss was also howard's fault...

The naivety is breathtaking.

If you want let loose with your boorish political views and silly name calling take it somewhere else.

I don't think you can fault them for there being a little bit of inflation due to increasing wages and near full employment.

Near full employment?? You would fall off your chair if I told you that the real un-employment rate was closer to 5.5-6.0% Dont believe me? But also remember that Howard is a liar, back when he was treasurer, and Labor won control in '83, Howard toted that Australia was in a mini-boom with low debt to the economy. In actuality, when Hawke took control to his surprise, Howard had given this country the royal shaft up the backside, leaving it with a massive 50 billion dollars in debt to the economy.

A little inflation?? How much was a loaf of bread 4 years ago compared to today?? Answer me that. What about a bottle of milk?? A little inflation, wake up and smell the daisies. Do you have a mortage?? Do you own your own home?? Who was the Prime Minister in during this time. One person. It starts at the top.

Rising wages?? Workchoices has abolished that. Workers have become stagnated. That is a fact. Don't worry though, we have the workplace authority and he workplace ombudsmen:rolleyes:

Incrasing company profits. Yes that is true, I agree.

Wrong. The GST was supposed to eliminate Income tax. Simple as that. That was a core outline to the GST when Howard was campaining so vigourously in opposition. Another lie. Another tax.

Again, with inflation, a little as you said. Pre 2001, what was the price of petrol?? Post 2001?? I can understand 5 cents or 10 cents a rise. But 50-60 cents, who is pulling the strings?

greennick said:

I am saying that we went there under false pretences. Ask yourself, what the **** are we fighting a war there for. Wepons of mass destruction does not cut it for me pal. As always Howard bumbled his way through another international incident. He ****ed up. Plain and simple. What we should be asking is what was the real reason. Why are we there. No straight answer?? Were outta there.

greennick said:

He could have said "I am not sure of the policy, so I cannot comment until I have further information on that policy" But no, once again he ****ed up. He ****ed up. He has continually critisided the AFL without knowing what he talking about. The same can be said for Rudd on this as well.

greennick said:

Tampa, Children overboard, GST, Iraq, Afghanistan, Workchoices, lack of investment in infrastructure, Secret deals under the table etc. etc. etc.

Who do you think I am talking about. Where is you line in the sand. Or do you want to be continually bent over and given the royal shaft up the backside???

I did not start this thread....my opinion is as valid as yours.

J.Howard is a squib....
Federal governments are responsible for the over-riding drug laws of the country and Howard has done everything in his power to enforce his, and the conservative rights predjudices on to the States.
He has no place associating with anything Australian....
