They should know better. You can do far more damage playing with injury!
Yep, but coaches make similar calls all the time. There are often players who go into games carrying some kind of injury. Whether they play would depend on a range of factors including severity of the injury, importance of the specific game, general state of the team and quality of likely replacement players.

I don't get it. Do you want players to be ruling themselves out the moment they get a bruise in a tackle?

If players didn't play through injuries, you'd barely get a team on the park. L

He's probably been pushing through significant pain to try and make a contribution. Good on him. It's up to the match committee to select the side.
And where is he now? What has he achieved? It's up to him to say 'guys, although I think I can contribute, I know it's better for the team and my body to rest up a couple of weeks so that I won't have to take time off when the team really needs me...'! That time is now and he's not going to be around. Playing the game out when you've injured yourself is bloody brave because you can't be replaced, you can be prior to a game!

OK it's only a very little thing, but Longmire is asked a question about Franklin, a champion forward, and Horse's first thought is that Buddy needs to improve defensively.
Wrong mindset.

Buddy chases/tackles with intent. As far as I'm concerned his defensive pressure is just fine, what I want to see is him in the forward 50 creating problems for the opposition, not feeling the need to roam further to 'do his bit' defensively for the team.

If Longmire feels the need, we have plenty of other players who can bring defensive pressure better than Buddy, we have no one else who comes close to what he can produce in an attacking sense.

I thought that was tongue-in-cheek.

That line about Buddy surprises me. I thought both he and Reid were chasing with intent last week.

So Grundy to Forward line, Buddy to backline this week I guess. Yeesh.

Total rubbish. A 13 yo child improved. Stop the presses.

Longmire is challenging 17 other coaches, sorry 16, not Buckley but beat us, but Norf Scott trying with a crap list. Lyon changed and has won 3 straight.

Your son is trying to beat himself. An rigid target. Good luck to him, if he keeps training he will ran faster each time.

AFL is evolving rapidly this year and now its 1 on 1 footy, players in front of the ball, quick ball movement by foot or hands . Most teams are trying to get about 100-120 per week. Miss by 10 -20% and still would beat us.

Longmire plays the some, reactive, passive footy and we lost to the Magpies.

2 forwards spoiling each other. 4 defenders spoiling each other. 5 players running towards the same player with the ball. Its mind boggling.

Talking about crap. Are you so naive that you think players are trained to spoil each other ? You've missed the point entirely. The definition of stupidity is posting something repeatedly, with little or no supporting argument, just because others do.

To me, the Buddy line was very tongue in cheek.

Okay, so that explains Jack's performances, now what's the problem with Hanners and Parker?
Not sure about Parker but Hanneberry is clearly carrying an injury. Unlike Parker, Hanneberry gets a pass from me because outside of injury his form is solid, especially in big games. He's prone to wasting the ball inside 50 but at least he always gives 100%. And before anyone says "why play him if he's unfit", I imagine it's because a 50% fit Hanneberry is more valuable to our team than a 100% fit Brandon Jack or Dean Towers. Assuming that rest won't help I say keep playing him in the seniors until he comes good.

If we loose Reid and jones we are going to be in a terrible position list wise
Not specifically directed at you mate ... Is this the same Reid that a lot of people were desperate to keep X.Richards over? It is truly amazing how much things can turn around in 5 weeks!

Personally I think we may lose one of them but highly-doubt (never say never) it will be both, if so I think its more likely to be Jones not Reid who moves. I think Reid is extremely highly regarded internally and he will be the priority signing.

I admit I have bashed Reid , shown me up in rounds 1 and 2 and I admitted that , not much last 3.

I'm more thinking we have no one on the list that is a chf , pink who knows , so besides that it's towers

Very thin in kpf

Jones is gone imo

I agree on KPF, that's why I think the club will get the deal done.
He reminded us all of his 'potential' once again as a fwd rounds 1-2, unfortunately for him (and frustratingly for us supporters) he's been required to play a stopgap swingman fwd/def/ruck role last few weeks which has reduced the quality of his output. This is not really his fault, but it shows he is highly adaptable and the flexibility he brings to the team. I think is why he is held in such high regard internally.

I think they have no confidence in each others abilities. Besides, they take each other out quite alot.

That reversed free against Jones...

Edit: wrong thread.

But seeing as I'm here.

If the coaching isn't a factor I'll go heave.
