There weren't any excuses for him losing to Carlton either, yet here we are, saying the next game is no excuses. No excuses for him if we lose tomorrow 0-7

May I suggest a third option? It's quite simple really. Seven games ago, we were a top 4 team & perhaps top 3. Most of the teams that suddenly find themselves in the 8 & contending for finals or are on the up, Richmond, Port, Saints, Bombers, Melbourne Collingwood, Carlton, Brisbane, Gold Coast & Freo, have been absolutely putrid for a significant period of time, with some even for 5 or 6 years. Shit! They needed to get with it & many, by being rewarded for being crap, now find themselves with "a superior game plan to ours" & with "coaches that know what their doing"! GO FIGURE!
So only 7 games ago we were dominating with our hard nosed game style, which has only very recently, due to many factors, struggled to get the job done.
Argue all you want as to why this may be so. I couldn't care less! Club wouldn't care what the 'experts' are saying either. They know what the issue/s are!
So people saying our general game plan is failing & obsolete, are wrong! Very wrong. Until you have the bulk of your players playing their positions as we did last season, without the 4 changes to the team per week or even 5 as we have this week, then the game plan can weaken gradually & become undone to point that it doesn't look like there is any game plan at all. Interesting that without shit head Greene up forward last night, GWS looked like a run of the mill football team. When they lost Kennedy mid match, well they were gone. That's how much it matters when you lose a key player for just one position. How many have we had struggling? Yeah, but that's our team. Why would we give our own team the benefit of any doubt? Hell we played in a GF last year & two years before that & we lost them so we are shit & need to throw everything & everyone out & start blaming people & start again so we can get to where.................umm....................say Richmond or Carlton is right now!
We can end this argument right here quite simply & we can all be divided into two, without any grey area.
1) Those of us that believe that having 4 changes every week makes no difference to our game plan.
2) Those of us that believe that having 4 changes every week affects the game plan as it doesn't allow a team to settle in their mode.
Let's just allow the line up to get settled before we write our team off as having a poor game plan.

I award this reference/post 5 starsWe should have Godot on the list we could wait for him also.
I think this season, Franklin has been has been beaten in a few games in one on one contests, eg. Henry Schade in the Collingwood gameSorry mate. I have a tremendous admiration for Kirk as a footballer and a person. Apologies for a poor attempt at humour. But I do think for what its worth our forward structure has been terrible. Not blaming Kirk. Just think we should try and structure around isolating Buddy one on one against his opponent. And play Cameron next to him. To draw that second defender away. Our forward line is now structured defensively to create turn overs. That's ok but shouldn't be the main way we set up. Make Buddy's opponent try and hold him one out as the ball comes towards them. I think we are trying to over finess coming into the forward line. I know most people here subscribe to the "lower the eyes" mantra but with a brilliant player like Buddy lets just create space and make it mere mortal against a brilliant once in a generation footballer. To do that we have to move the ball much quicker. The hold the ball and pick targets strategy from defence means that Buddy is covered by the time the ball transitions slowly up the ground. I think our players are hesitating fatally in defence as they try to pick the best option. Just move it as the modern game is more about space and speed. The other team that used a hold and pass strategy Hawthorn are joining us on the bottom of the ladder. The game is now all about forward momentum. We have to change how we transition out of defence. We have Aliir a potential champion who is made for the new game. As is Rampe. Lets use them to the optimum. Not try and straight jacket them into close checking defenders. They are rebounders with speed and instinctive football skills. And we played him in the reserves to teach something he will never be. Yes they will make some mistakes but better than the hesitant deer in the headlights football we are now playing.
I agree the tightly managed risk averse style served us well but football strategy changes quickly. Ours is now outmoded. It has to change. We have to mould a game strategy around the players we have. At the moment we have the most dangerously brilliant forward in the game playing up the ground trying to minimise the mistakes our midfielders make moving the ball into the forward line. If that's not a risk averse strategy I don't know what is. Isolated with his opponent Buddy will beat any defender three times out of four. He is booming kick for goal, Give him space and let him work his magic. But the micro-managers have him playing as a wingman!! As for the Dalai Lama- Parker's form demise coincided with the DL getting him to read books FFS. I rest my case
May I suggest a third option?
3)Those of us who believe that 4 changes a week is a symptom of a failing obsolete game plan? If we keep losing the line up will never be settled. Macca is a saviour for us this week FFS. Next week all hopes will be pinned on the return of the trauma twins Rohan and Tippett. And on it will go. We should have Godot on the list we could wait for him also. Ted even after a failed marriage, disastrous relationships and now young women giving up their seats to me on the bus, I am the world's greatest optimist and love still springs eternal in the old failing ticker . But jeez mate this constant hoping for it all coming back to the glory days is giving optimism a bad name
One problem most of the changes are Horse shuffling deck chairs like a yo yo, you cant make stupid ins and outs then use it as an excuse
There is no excuse for 0-7 for a side as you say were only 7 games ago a good side
Horse has had most of his side to pick from, he has been pathetic
Adelaide's game plan is now obsolete!

Agree its a dilemma. But given that we aren't getting the ball into the forward line as much as previous seasons we have to ratchet up the scoring to inside fifty ratio. Only Buddy set free to roam an empty paddock can do that. We should go back to a modified slingshot with two tall forwards and Papley in the forward line. At the moment we are trying to score most of goals from forward stoppages and set pieces while we are having trouble holding the ball in the forward line which used to be our strength. A risk minimisation strategy is to put Buddy up the ground delivering precisely into the forward line using his kicking skills and mobility. So we have one of the all time great goal scorers playing on the wing. Great strategy.Kind of a chicken and egg problem though. We're in the bottom third for inside 50's, we're crap at clearances, we're really crap for center clearances and stone motherless last for disposal efficiency. Just getting the ball into the same postcode as Buddy if he's camped in the forward line is a herculean task for the midfield right now. So do you leave Buddy close to goal and hope it bounces off Sinclair's head in his direction or do pull our most creative player up the ground so he at least gets a touch, even if it's 80 metres out? It ain't great either way.
If you put hail Mary's up on top of his head he can be beaten. Put it out in front of him into space there is not a defender in the comp can beat him. And he kicks them on the run from over 50 metres. No KPF in living memory has been able to do what he does. So our brains trust move him up the ground out of goal scoring range or have Parker, Rohan, Slips Sinclair and everyone else connected with the club including the Swanettes to fly with him in a congested forward line.I think this season, Franklin has been has been beaten in a few games in one on one contests, eg. Henry Schade in the Collingwood game
Yep and it sort of pisses me off.I tell you one thing, Longmire gets the easiest free pass in the media of any coach

Media also recognise credits in the bank.
They know he is not going to be sacked so there is no point circling the wagon. They would rather build up pressure on people like Buckley/Hardwick who have zero credits in the bank and have a strong chance of being sacked if things go wrong.
Clarkson has spent a decade beating up on the media. You don't think the media havent been sharpening their knives waiting for the Hawks to slide. No they dont, they circle clarko
Forget where you stand, even if horse is the bestest coach ever, the media barely mention his failure to win with buddy or on the big day in general nor a 0-7 start
Has he given excuses other than we aren't playing well? Buckley whinged about a 6 day break today. When has Longmire pulled a stunt like that?No excuses for him if we lose tomorrow 0-7 will be a long way back questions will have to be asked no matter his previous record.
Yeah!I tell you one thing, Longmire gets the easiest free pass in the media of any coach

Yeah!
For a guy that hasn't missed finals in his 6 years & who has coached a team to 3 of the last 6 GFs for one premiership.
They'll be lining up!
