Are you serious? Why couldn't JPK win his position prior to that?
Not sure what you’re asking here.

Didn’t you say it was a Horse masterstroke to allow Kennedy to win the ball in the last after he restricted him the two weeks before?

And watching the replay it took him 3 quarters to make obvious adjustments that commentators kept wondering about.

If anything should of led all day not need a miracle comeback , hardly sustainable

Don't get sucked in by commentators mate.
Oh, unless it's David King, he's a genius.

Ok mate.
If JPK wins the ball, it's because JPK wins the ball, not because Horse made him do it.
Get it?
JPK wins his own ball.....................Horse doesn't coach it into his hands..............get it?

I must confess my loathing levels for the Cats are less than for most teams. Maybe I need a check up from the neck up.

Here are some reasons (why I don't mind them - not why I need the check up)

1 They gift us wins at the litter box while knocking over other rivals - they play the Giants there next week. The draw gives us an 8 point turnaround against them and a 4 point turnaround against mobs like GWS
2 We have Stevie J in the coaching box who encourages scallwaggery and dare from our players)
3 Mummy, Hafey, Diesel, Toohey etc

I think the irony is that you are losing it for people suggesting that, when you are suggesting the very opposite - that when JK plays well it’s because of Horse...

If you don't win the midfield battle & hence clearances, it doesn't matter if Clarko is coaching the team.
Don't take my word for it, listen to Danger here.

So we lay the blame at the feet of several individuals for each not doing what’s required? Instead of maybe looking at the person responsible for preparing them for the game, forming the gameplan and ultimately making changes when things don’t work.

I actually liked some of the changes on Saturday in terms of midfield rotation.

My concern is that it didn’t happen soon enough and we don’t take risks against good sides and it hurts us. We also play ultra conservative which is why we don’t make teams pay when we have the run of play

No!
Every coache's game plan is validated once his players win the clearances/ stoppages & keep the ball in their forward half longer than their opposition allowing their defenders to regroup & alternatively, placing immense pressure on the opposition's defence with repeat entries.
With JPK dominating the last Q, all due to finding form & not Horse's coaching, we did exactly this & kicked 7 goals 4.

I'll leave you to it!:thumbsu:

I think we were also lucky that it was a high intensity game and they were down a rotation.

It was a great game and clearly the coaches box did some good things. I’d like to see more of it and less conservative play.

I just scratch my head at the furore when people say anything negative in this thread.

I just scratch my head at the furore when people say anything negative in this thread.

It’s not just this thread. It’s the constant negativity across almost every thread that frustrates some...

Negativity that has followed the most successful period in Swans history.

I scratch my head at that...

I went to every match one season when we won two games, both against Fitzroy. I watched for each spark of hope. I went through the misery of the Pratts, Murdochs, Ayletts and Hamilton exiling my club. I observed the brief sparks in the 80s, the embarrassment of the early 90s.

Yes the current era has been phenomenal and I still can not credit the joy I felt in 05. However we have through good management assembled good lists over the past 22 years. We have been in the window for some time but snagged just one flag. 2014 was appalling and 2016, despite umps and injuries was unforgivable.

We are still in the window. Both Blind Freddie the Bulltosser and Jack Hill the Blind Miner can see that our coaching and selection standards have been somewhat less than optimal. Most of us when pointing out the often bleedin' obvious about mule-ish coaching and selection decisions are NOT being negative. We want better for the Club and higher levels of achievement.

It is not being disloyal to criticise error. It is arguably disloyal to paper over the cracks and pretend everything is ok like some latter day Dr Pangloss from Candide or Rebecca from Sunnybrooke Farm.

"I just scratch my head at the furore when people say anything" postive in this thread.
I think it’s safe to say that one side is a little more upset than the other

We haven’t won anything in a long time with arguably our best list ever. We also took a massive risk with Buddy’s contract, one that some would argue jeopardises the years following his decline/retirement.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable for people to want success. The last two flags have been up for the taking with no clear cut amazing team.

There's still plenty of room for positive/constructive views to be expressed on the board. It's a public forum, we can't change how other people think.

I agree. Few comments here can be put purely into Captain Negative category. The majority of the posts critical of decisions from the Club are reasoned and offer alternatives. Seems to me that debate conducted with humour and respect is as integral as anything else to the success of this place.

Its extremely tough for a interstate team to win a flag its just the way the AFL is and probably will be, our 2012 effort is underrated we played a perfect game 115 tackles or something ludicrous on a dry day and we still had to rely on luck and them missing a few shots at goal and we still only won by 10 points.

I feel this applies to all our victories, and hence alot of the angst towards the coaching staff.

As long as you agree that Horse can't coach.

Are people really saying he can't coach? I thought the dissatisfaction with Horse is more due to the belief that he's too predictable (you don't have to agree with this of course), not that he can't coach.

The best thing for us as a team is to not have Buddy there for a couple of weeks. Last week was the first time in a few years where we lowered our eyes and hit targets. The minute we start lowering our eyes on a consistent basis is the minute we will become as good as we can. The kick to Buddy shouldn't be every single forward entry.

That generally means he can't coach & perhaps he can't.
My argument has always been what do we do about it now without destabilising the club, & if it's a change for the sake of change, who do we get & it couldn't have been Dew because Horse is contracted & as midfield coach for the last few years, what happened to our midfield in the final against Geelong last year?
