I would of thought that there are a few teams after a young, promising and ready ruckman would still give Adelaide a fair bit of leverage. The problem is though we will need to trade or loose him in the PSD.

I would of thought the WBD could be Adelaide's preferred trading option as we need speed and they need height. Then again it cold be a 3 way deal Woods to AFC, Mees to Cwd, XXX to Bris? Many options available. My preference would be to keep him.

This week may well decide his trading value.

Yeh but i dare say the dogswould be focusing their trade energy on kpp first and for most. Skipper is showing a bit for them Eade still rates Minson they still have Street. No doubt plenty of teams will be after him i just hope that we are as aggresive as them. I dare say Carlton seem to be doing the most atm but i don't know what they have to offer

Will he play on friday night?

I want to see this bastard with my own eyes and work out whether he is any good or not.

Most likely. Given he had a reasonable performance last week, can't see any reason why he would be dropped for Maric or Griffin, though I think Maric did get 29 hitouts for the Port magpies.

PS. Pretty sure his parents were married when he was conceived. ;)

I watvhed the replay yesterday.

Meesen probably had 10 hitouts and 5 touches. He was better than last week, but got more time on ground also. Hudson dominated and the Brisbane rucks were two kids, so I don't think Meesen enhanced his reputation much.
Yeh but to do better than BOTH Leuenberger AND Wood given how highly rated they are, would surely count for something?

i think Meesen is massively overrated

he has done nothing to justify the discussion or hype despite having a few years of being drafted

stinks of clutching at straws to me

Given our current ruck stocks, the hype is understandable IMHO.

Agreed the previous post stunk of lack of understanding to me. He has done nothing at AFL level sure AFL rucks as many times as this can be repeated take ages to develop. Especially a body on body tap ruck men as they need to be physically strong enough to match it with the big men. On top of that there is a well documentated case of home sickness which would influence his commitment and focus. He was an extremely talented and hyped kid and his stats from the weekend where impressive IMO that many taps to advantage in that short amount of time is exactly what we need

Posted a couple of pages back about Jolly wanting to head back to Melbourne. There was a snippet in the Hun about it today.

It is understood the Sydney Swans are interested in young ruckman Cameron Wood. The Swans may need to recruit a ruckman as Darren Jolly is considering returning to Melbourne.

If Jolly did decide to return to melbourne he would be worth a look. 26 atm so has at least 4 years left in him. My feel is Sydney may want to much for him, it would seriously deplete the Swans ruck division with a dwindling spider as there only ready ruck option. Having him and so many other rucks possibly looking for a new club for clubs to target is really good for us. As it takes there trade values down simply becuase for the clubs with players looking to leave they eventually have to get something for them, don't want them to end up in the PSD

If Jolly becomes available and we don't chase him I will shoot myself.

I would definitely have a crack at jolly if he is coming back to melbourne.

I prefer him to meesan.

Of course. In an ideal world we would prefer Jolly its just a matter of what we would have to give up for him???? I would rather a young Meesen at bargain basement prices then give up a 1st round pick or whatever Sydney will ask for Jolly

I don't know anything about Meeson but we aren't trading rusling for anything short of Judd and a first round pick. I watched him closely last Saturday and give him a full season in the 1's uninjured and we've got ourselves a talent.

Whoever said Minson is undersized has a funny tape measure, he's 199cm and only 21/22. He seems out of favour at Dogland and if he's out of contract I'd go hard at him. He's potentially a younger, taller version of Charman.

Jolly was touched up by Richards and Bryan which isn't a great recommendation.

Meesen = 6 years younger than Jolly.

I think we should go after Jolly, but I'd prefer Meesen (or Wood). We want a ruckman who will be near his peak when Reid/Dawes/Thomas/Pendles are at their peak, so Meesen/Wood are the perfect age to be competitive now and powerhouses in a few years.

Meesen was rumoured by Michelangelo Rucci to be most likely headed for Carlton. :( They're going to clean up this year.

Silly move Meese if you read this. The Blues are chasing the best young ruckman available and have Hampson developing aswell as Jacobs (no matter how good or bad he is) developing on the rookie list. If you come to the Pies you have a clear run at it as Richards is a super dud, and a bloke with talent would clearly play infront of Bryan. We have no young ruckman. If you come to the Pies and work hard you are gauranteed a spot in the 22.

By the way, no matter what ruckman we chase during the trade period and draft days, we should still have a crack at Michael Griffiths. He is worth a punt I think. Couldn't be any worse than Richards, and Richards has had 7 years worth out into him.

Positive is we are in the market for a ruckman (be it a few years to late) at the right time. We can chase Meesen, Jolly, Wood, Seaby, Charman and a couple of others, aswell go to the draft and look at some of the younger boys. There is a bit a ruck talent in this years draft which is fortunate.

2007 Trading and Draft season is the year of the ruckman.
