Nice article in today's Herald sun about Ben Johnson (IIRC) helping out a guy who was in a car accident.

don't get me wrong, i love to hate Collingwood, but this was just a nice feel-good, happy story, and it's nice to hear AFL players putting themselves out-there and realising they are not bigger than the game itself.

Good on him.

Thanks. Johnson has been visiting this guy I think for a while even before his community service. In fact he used to do a hell of a lot of work at the Epworth Hospital (I think that's the one), and the community service order has basically told him to continue this.

Yeah, I spent some time as a physiotherapy student at Bethesda (Epworth) working with head-injured patients, and Johnno, Rupert Betheras, Paul Licuria and Steve McKee came in once a week. The patients really seemed to look foward to it, even those who didn't barrack for us.

It's nice to know some footballers are generous enough to spend some free time with the "less fortunate". I know he didn't have a say in the matter, but he showed tremendous support and he invited him over for dinner last Tuesday.

Well done johnno.However maggie supporters,there's a thread on lsd that says that johnson wants out of pieland at the end of the year.Hope it's only a rumour.If it was true,maybe we could give the eagles johnson in a trade for chris judd.Or give freo johnson for pavlich.Who knows maybe pav and judd may be moving clubs at year's end?I know that judd isn't too happy with what's happening at west coast at the moment,and pavlich is out of contract at the end of the year.If this thread (on lulie street dash) isn't just a rumour,Johnson would be great trade bait for either of these great players.

And if the thread was on lsd, it makes sense that it would be completely nonsensical and abstract. I'm surprised it didn't involve purple spiders and exploding plantpots.
