Big Jon Giles may be assisted in a move to Adelaide through a trade after the ruckman sees a better future with the crows and sees himself being replaced by shane mumford. Inside sources who I cant name, have suggested crows is his preferred club. Big signing if we can somehow secure him.

Surprised if true considering at either club he is most likely to be the back up ruckman

What has changed from last year? If his reasons for not coming were his reluctance to play second ruck or more likely sanfl then nothing has really changed. It would be good for us with a quality backup but would he be worth trading someone like Hendo if he is going to play reserves most of the year?

Difference was last year he had the choice of lead ruck at GWS or back up here. Despite apparently wanting to come home he saw the benefit to his career and enjoyment of being 1st ruck as more important.

Now the opportunities at each club are the same with Mumford being the equivalent of Jacobs in terms of competition and ranking in relation to him so the location, quality of team, etc would weigh more heavily in any decision

So in hindsight he would have been better off signing last year considering Jacobs poor year. Now he is stuck with the option of playing second fiddle at two clubs. Would he be a net gain if we traded Hendo? Could he be a swing man?

So what would Adelaide be looking to trade for Giles?

Greg Denham (the clown who wrote this report) mightn't realise that we do need two AFL-level ruckmen, so whatever we'd get for Giles would probably need to be flipped for another ruckman. Sideways move at best unless we give up a better asset. Doesn't make sense, I think someone is throwing blindfolded darts to write reports on GWS players up for trade.

Would definitely be a big step up from Smack and Graham. IMO would put a bit of selection pressure on Jenkins as the back-up ruck/second key forward.

If we get him, Graham can pretty much kiss his spot on the list goodbye.

trust me when I say giles is worried about his future thanks to mummy. He thinks he could crack into adelaides side.
And one of your early picks can be used on a ruckman.

That is so wrong its not funny.
That story about Giles is put out by people who have no knowedge of what happened last year with him. As was shown this year, Giles would have played every single game even with sauce in the same side. Kicked 4 goals against Essendon this year and thats in the worst side in the leauge. Put him in our side and you have a 30-40 goal ruckman.
The trend in towards two ruckman as shown by Sydney, West Coast. Especially one who can go in the forward line and kick goals, which Giles can.

Giles would've known we'd be seeking another ruckman (and Brogan would maybe be back for one last year) when he signed a 3 year deal. I just can't see it.

Trade or draft? We won't be drafting a ruckman, and there's no use trading an early pick for a backup ruckman.

Player swap at best as I'm not sure GWS want or even know what a third round pick is
