Sounds like someone is a bit jelly of "Johnny Louch"?

Strangely, Jordy chose to train and party in non-locked down parts of the USA rather than a locked down outer Eastern suburbs backyard. jathanas can't forgive him for that.

First class knobbery on display by 2 of our finest.

...

I would be extremely surprised if a professional footballer could mirror the benefits of a full pre-season with a club in a private environment. Having never played at the professional level I can’t be certain of course, but from personal experience pre-season in a team environment >>> pre-season as an individual.

I risk derailing but for the overwhelming majority of us training in a group leads to higher intensity sessions. This is amplified in an pro team environment for the obvious reasons e.g. the sessions are managed/supervised by career coaches and the standard of the participants is elite.

However, it might suggest that the US fitness camp was more indicative of his attitude and preparation than his misadventures during a night on the piss.

Yeah definitely, agreed.

Kinda hard to practice "footy" on your lonesome.

I'm sure his "tattoo-artist" buddy could have stood behind the goals and collected the stray footies. Not in a bathrobe, normal clothing. It would look funny playing footy in a park with a mate if both of you are wearing robes, don't you think?

My point re:training was more related to the soul-crushing running intervals that AFL guys are subjected to during preseason.

Yes, you can do those nasty sessions on your own but one will always go harder in a group.

I agree but I think we’re talking about “incremental gains” and not the difference between a Copeland-worthy season and being unable to run out a game. It would have been ideal if he could have been fully involved in preseason, no question.

I can confirm what Swipey said... you got laughed at TRS.

I hope you eventually recover from the hurt that this will have caused. Know that we are here to support you the best we can. Sending you thoughts and prayers.
Thanks mate, there is nothing #thoughtsandprayers can’t fix, even a broken, laughed-at heart.

Now that I've learnt about your unfortunate emoji blindness, I'll make sure that I let you know when people are laughing at you.

I prefer to reject your reality and substitute my own, in which I am terribly, terribly popular.

That wasn't a like.

Sure it was. See?!

Since when has he been unable to run out a game. He was either given 4 or 5 by Fly in the coaches votes. They must have massive concerns about his fitness and level of performance.

I get that and agree the difference might only be incremental in a certain sense, but I come more from the angle that in order to be 100% on top of your game at that level you need everything going your way. Without wanting to make excuses is it that much of a stretch to suggest that between a lesser pre-season and the virus he picked up a few weeks back he’s not currently Heeney/ Petracca/ Bont/ Cripps fit?

FWIW we’re a tough lot considering he’d certainly be top 3 in our B&F and is on track for the AA squad as a minimum, IMO.

I’d sooner ascribe any fitness shortcomings to post-viral effects rather than a modified preseason 4-6 months ago.

And yeah, he’s around the top five players at the club at the moment; I haven’t really given any thought to how he’d be doing AA-wise… to be honest I would have had him as a shoo-in for his second half of last year but feel he’s been a notch or two down from that in the first half of 2022.

I never said he was.

I said we are talking about small difference x, not massive difference (y-z).

I don't know how they pick the team and I really don't watch enough of other teams to have much idea. But if it was a real team he wouldn't get a look in at stoppage, but if you were looking for a bloke to play that high half forward quasi midfield half a kick ahead of the ball, I doubt anyone is doing it much better.

I had him close to the votes so I definitely thought his game was ok or better. He’s a good player, just not an $800kpa player.

I had him in my Didaka votes.

I think $800k is about right. I think you pay the premium for what he might deliver rather than pay him down to the value you think he’s worth.

That’s a long bow to draw; he wasn’t injured he was just out getting shit faced… you’re telling me the firefighter couldn’t find him an athletics track to run around? He was perfectly healthy, with all the resources in the world bar the club itself.
Yeah, as if he couldn’t find himself some training support. Spent some time under Hocking if I remember correctly. And that was after additional off season in the US. Yeah, he got arrested, but he still completed some pretty rigorous training.
