Hopefully Rucci is salty at the new coaching group because he's already been told he's off the books for next year.

If we are stick with his crap, he's going to need to come up with some new content for his weekly articles given he can't just keep endlessly writing about how bad 2012 was
Kymbo is the voice of reason with his gig with Rucci. 🤣

If they wanted an admin person, they wouldn't have chased Jimmy Bartel. He has no GM type admin background.

Sounds like Paul Stewart did a good job with the admin and paper work stuff acting GM Footy Ops since early September when CD left. I knew he was head of AFL player welfare at the club, but when I checked his profile a few hours ago, I found out he is also SANFL Head of Football so he probably worked closely with CD. Don't know how long he has done that role.

Richo in his announcement of Rutten's appointment said - "The significant changes we've made over the last couple of months with the combined experience and capability we've compiled across our football department allowed us to think differently about this role.

That was obvious with them seriously talking to Bartel about the job. So it was footy first, admin second. Dare I say it after that ragtag bunch of challengers to the Richmond board in 2016 - a Focus on Football approach.
Kinda sounds like as soon as Ken was gone, Port could finally make changes without Ken throwing a hissy fit with his large and fragile ego. Still that 400k though in 2026.

I would love Bartel to be involved with Port in some way shape or form. Felt like he was one of the only few people giving constructive criticism about Port using logic and reason and deemed Ken's tenure a failure because of the lack of silverware compared to the others who said Ken was able to make Port relevant again and therefore his era could be deemed a "success".

Rutten also mentioned that he was all in on this because it was a new era with new people. Whether you think Hinkley was a good, bad or average coach, we would all agree that the place was incredibly stale and that would've been turn off for anyone wanting to come here.

We've even dropped the ball a bit in the last couple years with being a destination club for players. We've really struggled to land anyone of note since JHF. Hopefully this changes as this new era is clearly now upon us.
This is where the media plays such a huge role. End of last year had a younger side then Hawthorn, and beat them in the finals.

Players want to come to successful clubs. Hawthorn has so many more advantages in the AFL/VFL than us. So do all the Northern States.

But yeah, I agree Port was stale, and the Hinkley transition shoulda happened earlier. The challenge for Carr is all his experience is at Freo and Port, whereas somebody who had been at say one of the Northern Clubs, might have recruited a few more players (ie Dew).

Why is he calling very seasoned people rookies? Some have even been head coaches in their owm right or won premierships at sanfl level. The only real rookie is Hartlerr but even thats debatable as hes been a head coach and been involved on senior game days.
Full on cope mode. He knows we have assembled the most credentialed football dept since at least 2013/14. He is petrified that the Hinkley era is well and truly over

Carr must have convinced the board that luxury tax isnt to be feared. There is no way we are fitting all this under our cap with Hinkleys 400k surely.

The soft cap increases by $750k next year and an additional $350k the year after.

Carr is also on considerably less than what Ol' Donuts was on. Even factoring in that $400k, Carr has had cash to splash.

Yeah but that cap applies to everyone, so do the increases so everywhere we poached from also had that extra space to counter offer. Its probably not meaningful to include the cap increase in the equation.

Who have we genuinely poached though? Webster was out of a job, Reeves came from the SANFL.

You could argue Dew, although it seems he has been bidding his time to come back to coincide with when Hinkley left, with only Collins an actual poach, and that was to come across on a promotion where his existing club already has someone in the same role so they'd be irresponsible to pay the same for a lesser role.

Rutten was a poach as well.

I’d say they go to a lot of trouble to make sure nobody finds out.

You don’t want people that missed out damaging their reputations as a result

You mean like when Ken missed all those positions and wound up here?

😬

Who defeated baldness first, Taiwan or Josh Carr's Port Adelaide?

We were only a couple of weeks younger on average age stat, and 33 + 50 weeks year old Dixon pulled out at the last minute and was replaced by 19.6 year old Will Lorenz, which statistically made us younger than the Hawks.

21.99 years or under Port 5 v Hawks 8,
24.99 years or under Port 12 v Hawks 10

It was a meaningless stat that Koch and CD used to try and justify things both ways for our total September performance.

Does anyone know whether Ladey interviewed for the role or any of the other candidates?
Lade?? He was a candidate for the Melbourne job.

I can’t wait for around about March when 95% of pundits and fans have us finishing Bottom 4.

They all seriously think that we’ll be nothing without Hinkley.
I believe 95% of them having us in the bottom 4 is an over the top statement.
Was looking at a sight the other day with about 12 scribes and there prediction for next years ladder.
Highest for us was 10th and lowest was 14th with most in between that gap.
Nobody had us bottom 4.
Not everyone thinks the same as David King.

Isn’t this every pre season in the last 5-7 years though?

It certainly seems like it. Every year we were tipped to crash out of the 8.
Broken clock and all that.

We definitely never get favorable write ups preseason.
I was surprised today when I found out we actually kicked 100 points less last season than North.
So it’s no surprise with us going into next season without our second highest goal kicker that we are not rated.

Lol I remember last pre-season Kenny trotted out his We love exciting high-scoring footy mantra. I wish he had been clearer that he meant by the opposition.
