I wish we played Guy Richards, Cloke was average in patches, not enough for me to warrant another game.

did struggle a little but for mine he was only beaten in the ruck, a position that he is not suited to play in. around the ground though i thought he was OK today.

ahh......ask o'bree how 'bad' josh's hitouts were.

you cretin.

I'm just stating a fact that came up on the tv after the game. I think that there is no one more deserving of being our next captain and agree that he played his best game ever. But just imagine if he actually palmed a few down to our midfielders for the quick take away - PIES WOULD BE UNSTOPPABLE.

Next Captain? James Clement would surely get the gig, taking big Josh under his wing

How many years would Clement captain for? Wouldn't argue with that decision. Depends whether the club wants to go the Hawthorn route and have Clement captain until Josh is ready or just give it to Josh and let him grow into the role, similar to Carey and dare I say it St Kilda.

o'bree (probably others, cant recall) was spoon-fed by josh all night.

taking NOTHING away from OB, as he was awesome (again), but josh gave him 4 or 5 beautiful feeds in the 3rd term alone.

O'Bree Awesome, don't think I was watching the same game as you. What did you make of his decision making tonight?

its only a matter of time before he plays like this week in week out! his ground work, skill and decision making are exceptional! has to work to regain his forward contested marking and he needs to get better in the ruck! im not sure that putting on weight will help him, because i think that will take away from his agility and ground work!

his decision making will never be a-grade. his work ethic, clearance work and work in-close however, has been almost a-grade all year.

we would be much worse off without him in the side, thus proving his worth.

very good footballer.

Your taking the :D:D:D:D Hadders arent you about Cloke being ok, or were you refering to Fraser?
Clokes direct opponent Graham had 13 disposal's half way through the bloody 1st 1/4, now most people know that I dont rate J.Cloke but surely he is not even close to our best 22.
I just cant see the logic behind MM playing him on Saturday night......he cant pinch hit in the ruck and he is not accountable for his man...hey i could go on and list numerous other faults but i dont want to be seen as a J.Cloke basher.
Look the kids got a lot of heart but unfortunately he is just not good enough.
Fraser on the other hand was awsome, finally his work rate has matched his abilty and one can only hope that this trend continues.

This really, really annoys me. Working for the post office type annoyance. Josh is a good footballer. His efforts on Saturday were fantastic. They were fantastic in the 2003 grand final as well. However he is a poor ruckman. He gets too few taps and the ones he gets do not go to our advantage often enough. It derives me crazy how badly we are set back by our lack of ruck ability and how much it has and will cost us. We must have a ruckman that can compete with the better rucks if we are to win a premiership and into his 7th season of AFL football Josh has surely proven he isn’t and can’t be it.

Mark, you really have issues. Josh is a quality player, a quality person, and a quality ruckman. He beat his opponents in every facet. He should have had a backup on Saturday, but thats not his fault. Its also not Frasers fault that Judd is as good as he is, and can shark the ruck so well.

You bet I do hotpie. Not with Josh though. I like him. I have always said he was a good player. Check my posting history if you like. I have been consistent on Josh. I don’t know him personally but he’s always struck me as smart and sincere. I want him to live up to the number 1 tag. I would dearly love him to be a quality ruckman. None of that changes his skill set.

Fraser did not beat his opponent in every facet. He beat him senseless for heart and effort and was very good as a follower. He did not beat his opponent in the ruck. In fact in his career he’s only win a handful of time in the ruck.

I watched a lack of ruck ability cost us a flag and then the worst coaching effort I can ever recall at Collingwood g9ive us no hope the following year. Maybe we had none anyway but we sure as hell never really got to fond out. Josh isn’t a quality ruckman. Very good 200cm onballer. Handy 3rd tall. Not a ruckman’s bum hole and can barely take a contested mark. We lost another game in the ruck. You are a long suffering Collingwood man. Doesn’t that bother you at all?

MarkT whilst I agree with you that we should have recruited a genuine ruckman over the last couple of years, i feel you are being way to harsh on Fraser.
I think his tap work this year has improved greatly and he has been giving our midfield a better chance at getting first use of the ball, he struggles a little at boundary throw ins but other than that i think he has been pretty solid, and if his work rate and effort is as good week in week out as it was on Saturday night then we are in for a pretty good year.

I feel he has been beaten in the ruck virtually every game he has played there and our midfield, as they did in 2002/3, are very good at winning the in close contested ball. Very now and again, in every quarter, the opposition ruckman gets some quality hit outs to real advantage and the opposition gets goals. We don’t get that very often. Not nearly as often as many of out opposition with better tap ruckmen. Not that when I talk ruck I am not referring to around the ground work.

According to the H-S Collingwood got 18 hitouts to WCE’s 38. Josh rucked virtually the whole game. That’s a ruck belting just ion the numbers. Now watch the game and dissect the quality. It was a < 3 goal game.

The main reason the opposition had more hitouts than Fraser was that it was two against one. By the last quarter he was buggered.
