Apparently Cloke went to the Trainer's room in the last 5 minutes and has an injury to his knee.

Whatever it is, if he does have some sort of minor injury I think mattys123 was correct in saying;

Same goes for Cloke, any injury concerns, no matter how small, should result in a rest next week, leaving them close to 100% right to go in September.

Josh Fraser kicked 5 goals in the VFL and was named in the best, it's a perfect time for him to come into the one's and (possibly?) cement his spot and play his 200th.

This wouldn't be classified as a "charity game" or whatever you call it and it would be interesting to see how he performs in his only opportunity to be part of the finals. TBH if he plays well I think he could possibly take Leigh Brown's spot or maybe even Dawes.

25. Josh Fraser: 15d, 7m, 5g, 2t

Some other interesting selections could be;

1. Leon Davis: 20d, 4m, 2t
7. Paul Medhurst: 32d, 13m, 2g, 1t
24. Tarkyn Lockyer: 27d, 9m, 3g, 1t

Pretty interesting although I would prefer if we played our best 22 leading into the finals then giving players a rest.

wtf was Leon doing playing in the 2's??

should have played midfield seniors if they wanted to give him a run

Clearly outperformed by the two competing for the same spot, definitely should NOT have played seniors based on yesterday's performance, especially if Lockyer and Medhurst are as useless as all the Davis supporters make out.

Im getting so sick of the bring Josh back crap he kicked 5 goals against the Gold Coast so what, if he really wanted a place in the side he'd be busting a gut in the two's and having big games every week. He's finished at Collingwood and there's absolutely no need to gift him a 200th game, have people forgotten the piss weak performance against Melbourne??

Mark my words he'll be brought back in this week and put in another shocker and then everyone will be out to get him on this board!!

I laughed when I read he could possibly take Leroy or Dawes spots. They have cemented themselves in our team by miles. The only 'possibility' of him getting a game is if we rest or either of them get injured in which case he might get a chance. VFL to AFL gap is giant as seen in Medhurst.

I must admit I've changed my thinking re this in the last week.

I was in the ' doesn't deserve it, let him earn it, **** his attitude ' brigade.

However he did have a go in the ressies this week and he was good. Tried hard, marked well and kicked some really good, difficult set shots. Jumped at it in the ruck, tried to rally the other boys...he was good.

Plus, looking at the seniors, some looked tired.

Plus, we have now sewn up top, our opponents are known, it'd be advantageous to be really fresh against them.

Plus, it gets a senior game, and some goodwill into him, in case, god forbid, anything happened to Jolly or Leroy.

Hence, I'm now all for resting a few bodies, plus you could argue it would be nice to get the 200th out of the way.

I'd prefer it not to come in a final ( it may if there was an injury), the less distractions in finals the better

Ins could be Fraser, Jmac, Tarkyn, Leon, even Wood and if you want to rest more, keep JA and Nate B in.

Leigh Brown is apaprently a potential visitor to the MRP and Cloke may have a minor injury, if eother of these guys are out - Fraser is a chance to get his 200th.

He won't be there against the Dogs though, unless he plays out of his skin against the Hawks.

Even if he does he can't possibly, possibly take the role of Cloke. If fit, Cloke is 100x better value than Fraser, even if he's kicking 2.19. His strength (and that of LB too) make them far better marking targets for me, and more than that they're better at ground level too.

Seeing LB tear up some of those games recently showed me that he's not even just a tall forward/backup ruck but he actually has the finesse that really adds to his value and makes him that much of a better player.

I think he's probably a better forward/backman and ruck than Josh, a better mark and lately a more reliable kick. Cloke may make us cover the eyes while he has a shot but he's still better in every other facet of the game that we'd need him in and it's a joke to consider Fraser in a final for either of those potitions.

For Dawes, similar sentiments really. At least he has the bigger body that forces the opposition to pay him more respect. If the ball goes his way it's going to at least come to ground if he doesn't mark it, I just don't see Fraser holding his own in the big leagues come finals this year unfortunately.

Round 22? Maybe a farewell game depending on injuries though, definitely.

The problem with giving josh his 200th if there is no injuries/suspensions is that he can sometimes pluck a really good game from somewhere, followed by some ordinary ones. If Cloke, Jolly, Leroy or Dawes miss this week but are fit for the first final it makes selection awkward if Josh has had a 20-odd disposal game with a couple of goals.

We're cemented into top spot, and like I've said before, if we're going to cop injuries against any team it'll be the dirtiest team in the entire comp - Hawthorn. Rest Trav, rest Steele, bring in Medhurst and Fraser. Davis still has a spot in our 22 atm I think, but Meds had a great game and just seems so damn hungry.

Whether or not he is going to play well is irrelevant. He was best in the two's, kicked 5 goals and we have players that may need to be rested.

Also, a lot has changed since the performance against Melbourne. Fraser can too.

Admit that L.Brown's spot is a stretch but Fraser could possibly match his performance or even do better. Leroy isn't BOG each game, he merely serves as a support role and I think bringing Fraser in next week we can see if he can play that role as well.

Fraser might not have such a big body like Dawes, but Dawes' performance as of late hasn't been great.

I'm not saying that Fraser WILL I'm saying this week will give him the chance to show it.

As I said on the general forum re the top 4 teams resting thread, some players come back better after a week off and others dont but atleast with Cloke you know he came back in better form than ever after the 2 weeks suspension so would be mad not to rest him in a game where only bad things can happen...look at dogs last week..why risk that with him...

When did it happen did he have that heavy strapping on at the start of the game?

Hope you dont mind me posting here really only 3 contenders boards to look at now IMO (Here,Cats,Saints) with Cooney and Johnno gone

You would have to say, having kicked 5 in the VFL, being best on ground and with the side desperately needing to know if we have any back-up for Jolly should he go down during the finals, that Fraser is a certainty this week.

I just can't see how MM will go into the most significant finals series since 2003 without at least testing Fraser at AFL level.
It is improbable that any coach would not at least canvas the option and I agree totally that it must be done.
The fact that Malthouse will leave it to the very last round and only then after Fraser has proven he can dominate a game in VFL is proof that he will not play anyone unless they earn it and once again the cards have fallen our way.

Whether or not you hold the opinion that Fraser is finished, to not play him in order to answer the question in a game which has no bearing on the finals or our season as a whole would be a neglect of the coaches duty to the club and the other players.

I voted no

Im happy give him his 200th and thats it but im worried we might be suckerd in to maybe dropping Dawes or somebody for him

One thing i did notice from the Adelaide game is we need one of Medhurst or Davis to be playing come finals Macaffer cant do all the chasing and defensive work by himself

Rest everyone! Send in the VFL side to play Hawthorn. A loss won't matter either way

Josh's form warrants selection for his 200th game this weekend. Also, we aren't really playing for much other than "spots", so all players that are still in the "finals planning" of the team need to be given every opportunity to stake their claims.

Leroy was very fumbly on Sat night and it was very noticeable. Maybe he should be given a rest this weekend. Perhaps Jolly. Possibly Cloke (if he is inj/sore).

Medders should also come back into the side to try and give it another crack before finals.

Despite what many others think, Davis is a certainty to be a part of the finals action one way or another.

The only player Fraser could displace is Leroy, but I'd much prefer Leroy. Very risky to start making such changes on the eve of finals when the partnership has been so fruitful between Jolly and Brown.

Agree with you however we MUST try Fraser out.

I think that Fraser could possibly play Dawes' role at FF. I think his time to play in the ruck is done and dusted and even to me it sounds ludicrous for him to play FF with his stature. However I haven't seen him play in the two's so I'm not too sure.

The problem is that Frser might pull out an Anzac day in rd 22 and then something ordinary for the first week of finals.

Maybe to get him his 200th, but if he was to kick 3-4, then he becomes almost obligatory / hard to drop. I'm more for some Leroy consistency, but wont be upset if Fraser plays.

Its a tough call, he could kick 5 goals and then we would have to drop someone else for Jolly like a leigh brown or a dawes and they dont deserve to be dropped they have played a missive part in our last 10 wins. Fraiser has played well in the VFL last two weeks but he should know that he will be dropped for the finals unless there is an injury and should be happy to play his 200th game.

IMO Leigh Brown is about a 20% chance of getting sited by the MRP for his hit on Johncock. But this is the MRP so who really knows.

If he does get sited then worst-case would be a 1 week suspension, most like a reprimand.

It could open the door for Josh.

Well, leroy has a 1 match ban so the obvious replacement is frasier.
