Let's not forget PremiAir signed a new CEO last week, Gwyn Dolphin. And reading between the lines here, he sounds like exactly the type of person who could theoretically lead the charge for a switch to Ford given his previous relationships. Add to that the Ludo Lacroix influence.

Honestly nothing would surprise me these days. No one picked Triple Eight to defect at the beginning of the year.

"He has worked in motorsport, rugby, tennis and football, and with international automotive and motorsport brands such as Toyota, Vodafone with Ferrari, WPP for Vodafone and Ford, Ford, Nissan and Prodrive."

“Over many years Gwyn has developed high-level manufacturer relationships and managed teams, from 20 staff to more than 100, brokering high level motorsport deals, and ensuring success on and off the track in all manner of sporting disciplines including F1, rally, sportscar, touring car championships and more."

The interesting thing for me is whether BJR take all 4 cars to Toyota with them. Theyve got the engineering know-how within the team to do so, and it would give Toyota that extra bit of data to work with.

As for a Ford team crossing, I reckon if there were to be anyone it would be either Blanchard or Groves. Wont be Tickford, wouldnt be DJR

BRT seems the most likely to change IMO. Lowest profile team on the list. Likely bringing in the least amount of sponsorship dollars so probably easier to sway with a brown paper bag. Groves had their frustrations with Ford and DJR but are apparently happy to have T8 joining the fold next season and taking over homologation.

Given Groves have half of T8s old staff, and the Dane's are no longer involved you'd think things would be a lot more cordial than they would have been.

The SpeedCafe article questioned whether BJR would take all 4 cars across to Toyota, or drop back to being a 2 car operation.

Looks like there are lots of possible permutations which could play out between now and 2026.

Peter Adderton outside of BJR headquarters right now

Does he actually want a team, or is it of more benefit for him to pretend he does ??
I'm not going to pretend I know enough about it to answer that. I just always thought team ownership was his end goal.

I think it kinda has been, but at the same time he has had opportunities before and hasnt taken them.

I cant imagine a guy like that playing the game the way Supercars these days want you to play it.

Yep I would say they are gone.

So either Groves/BRT go to GM or Ford take an extra team.
That article makes it sound like Ford with have 6 teams. GM will lose 4 cars to Toyota and 2 more to Ford. What will that leave? 4 Camero's? Hardly seems worth it. Really does look like the demise of GM in supercars is inevitable.

I don't think they'll let that happen, Supercars will push someone in that direction

Didn't they hold them because of the freight issue to NZ? This could possibly change with them not using air freight this time. Although, if they wanna go overseas to an F1 event like they have said before, that would be air freight.

Some interesting news coming out of the Symmons Plains round over the weekend.

BJR have announced that they're switching to Toyota next year. This makes sense for multiple reasons. Firstly, it gives Toyota 6 cars in the 2026 competition, which is 2 more than they would have had with any other team. Secondly, with GM appointing Team 18 as their Homologation Team, it makes perfect sense for BJR to get as far away from the GM badge as possible. With WAU and BJR, Toyota will now have one team at either end of the starting grid.

At this stage BJR are looking to re-skin 3 of their existing Camaro bodies, only taking delivery of 1 new Supra for the start of the 2026 season. BJR only have 1 driver who is currently contracted for 2026 - Andre Heimgartner; Fullwood, Evans and nepo boy are all currently uncontracted.

Speaking of nepo boy, I saw something on Saturday afternoon which I never expected to see - nepo boy leading a V8 Supercars race on merit! Macauley Jones was running 3rd before the 1st round of pit stops, having qualified surprisingly well (I still think we were all living in Bizarro World). BJR fitted 2 tyres during nepo boy's stop, while the 2 leaders were given 4 new boots. The time difference from fitting the extra tires meant that the leaders emerged from pit lane behind nepo boy's orange pizza delivery car. It didn't take them long to overtake him, and to leave him in their wake, but for a very short period of time nepo boy actually led the race on merit...

DJR were DQed from Race 11 (the first race on Saturday), after being found guilty of sanding back the skid blocks under their cars' front splitters, allowing them to run their cars lower at the front (gaining an illegal aerodynamic advantage). This was really dumb. They got pinged for the same thing at Taupo, but were able to defend those charges. This time Supercars made sure that they had physical evidence to support the charges, and DJR were screwed. Reminds me of Justice Michael Lee's comments after the Bruce Lehmann trial - "Having escaped the lion's den, DJR made the mistake of going back for their hat."

Matt Payne's win yesterday was unbelievable TBH, how he managed to (just) hold off Feeney with those tyres was insane. Kid will be a champion.

DJR yeah..... Brodie will be absolutely ripping that place apart after this weekend. DQ'd Saturday, then stuffed quali Sunday but put in a huge drive, only to be punted by another Mobile BJR Chicane in Fullwood, who was probably still at full mast after jagging a podium on Saturday.

Mostert got smashed by Ryan Wood, and smashed into everyone else, Randle got binned Sunday when on for another podium and Cam was pretty anonymous albeit fast at times.

Stanaway somehow got away with fencing Chaz too, the new Bairdo Rules are confusing to say the least.

Mostert should have been getting out of the way, without Wood having to punt him into the outfield, given that he (Mostert) was a lap down. Fittingly, Wood did not receive any penalty for punting Mostert.

Apparently Mostert blew up "deluxe" when told he had a 15 second penalty, for causing the Davison/Lebroq spin in the hairpin. He came away chagrinned, admitting his culpability, after reviewing it with Craig Baird and realising it really was his fault. To be fair, Mostert was only aware of making minor contact with Courtney - he wasn't aware that this was responsible for the concertina which resulted in Lebroq being spun.

I didn't mind the non-penalty for the Randle incident. It looked like Randle tried to move over after Feeney went through, and possibly wasn't aware that the other car was there. I thought that Randle contributed significantly to the incident, which is presumably why Baird found no case to answer.

As for Fullwood... he copped a pit lane drive through for punting Kostecki - and well deserved.

Stanaway hit Mostert, who was unlapping himself... he was faster.

Mostert copping a penalty for causing the chain reaction was absolutely fair but a touch unlucky.

Tommy Randle with the King Kong Balls-move around the outside of the sweeper !!!
Too bad he couldn't back it up with some defending. Payne showed how it's done on that last lap. I thought Feeney had it but didn't get to him till the last lap and Matt drove it perfectly.

Plenty of good racing last weekend, the small track always has something going on.
