Re: Judd trade talk!!

Richmond have posted more about Judd than the West Coast board have...

Our hopes are getting too high - there remains a chance - but I still expect Judd to be a Blue.

Depends on our willingness to intervene should our pick 2 trump Carlton's offer, and our ability to draft Judd in the PSD. Miller was quoted today as 'wait and see' and to whether we could accept the price on his head.

In any case, if Carlton has paid more, we've done our bit.

I'm more excited about taking Carltons pick 3 or Carlton losing pick 1. I'm not too worried if we decide to keep pick 2 and forget about Judd, because we will get pick 3 from Carlton. Thats 2 picks in the top 3. But if we want Judd and swap pick 2 I'm happy too. I'm also happy if Carlton give away pick 1 and we get Kruezer with pick 2. Miller we make sure we get as much as Carlton in the draft

Re: Judd in secret meeting with Tigers

Rubbing hands together at 3 possible results :)
Getting picks 2 and 3
Getting Judd
Getting Kruezer
Either 3 will be great. Thanks Blues :thumbsu:

I think it will be tricky to get those results, but it is possible if miller plays his cards right.

One of the things that would help with that is for Miller to make a big statement to the media during the trade week "If Chris Judd nominates for the PSD then we will pick him up for sure.". But let Carlton know he is going to make that statement before he does.

This will have the following effects:

- Carlton may offer Miller a Veale deal. (Carltons pick 3 for our pick 19 for us to pass on Judd in the PSD)

- If Miller makes that statement, Carlton will have to offer pick 1 and more knowing that they won't be getting Judd in the PSD.

- If Carlton still tries to get Judd at bargain basement prices, then Judd may fall into the PSD and we will pick him up.

Other scenarios is that Judd may not nominate for the PSD if he really does not want to go to Richmond that badly. Which will mean that we would have screwed Carlton from getting him and no skin off our nose.

We can really use this to our advantage by getting something for nothing or screwing over Carlton. Either way it's all good.

Re: Judd trade talk!!

i still think the pressure is on miller to try and salvage something for richmond out of the situation

I think at the very least he will make carlton give up the 1st pick or another decent offer. In return i feel that WCE will give us Morton for nothing (late pick) and it may even result in Kruezer becoming a tiger.

considering october is less than a week old - you are already pretty familiar with the posters of this board:rolleyes:

me thinks YOU are the one who is actually signed up with 2 accounts - and trying to stir shit - but you are terribly bad at a) disguising it & b) stirring shit

Re: Judd trade talk!!

that's why Euro soccer players and US basketball players are getting paid 10 x more than they deserve. Ridculous wastes of money

They're getting paid 10 X what AFL players are getting paid because there are 10 X more people watching them, and therefore there's 10 X the money available to them.

There is also about 100 X the level of competition for such players to reach that elite level.

they also play 20 X + the amount of games in a season too. ;)

No sportsman deserves more than $5 million a year.

Well, NFL players play significantly less, but anyway ...

And your average EPL or Serie A player might end up playing double the amount of matches in a season as an AFL player does, however ...

Like the movie and music industries, sport is a branch of the entertainment business, and is thus market driven. They get the big dough because they can.

AFL - 22 games + maybe finals + maybe NAB cup.
EPL - Serie A - 40+ home and away, FA cups, League Cups, Euro Cups, UEFA cups, Internationals, you name it they play it.

man utd's revenue from home and away matches would go close if not surpass n one year, the TV rights revenue the AFL is paid from C7 for 5 years. Then you start adding the big euro games that generate more revenue, with one game than an entire weekend of AFL fixtures, and you can understand that AFL is like the corner milk bar when talking big time sport. But its ours and we love it. Problem with the AFL is the AFL. Unfortunately it is endeavouring to hold onto the reins, with inane laws and rules, to justify its existence. When if it released them, allowing private owenership, with no salary cap, you would have kids looking at the game the way they look at soccer. You see, kids nowadays see you can play 3rd division soccer in europe and make in one year what they would make here in 4 or 5. Ontop of not having to beat their bodies to a pulp in doing so.

In reality, the AFL players association should be ashamed of themselves. Here we have an entity, receieving 780 mill over 5 years for the rights to show a game that they are THE most important element in, and they sit back and let the AFL say, oh but you cant make more than x dollars, when all it does is want to sell to the highest bidder, what the players produce. Ridiculous stuff. ;)

Re: The Deal - Lets Do It!!

who is sensitive now - because i said stupidity comes in many forms - arrogance and bitterness - you lose you knickers about it?

you would rather loss a better deal for richmond just so carlton don't get a better deal for themselves?

that is stupididty based on arrogance and bitterness mate:thumbsu:

Judd is the better deal

fool

relax dude, the nuff nuffs havent yet worked out the difference between a proven out and out champion and rolling the dice on the basis of beep tests. Like they want to "develop" kids over the next 5 or 6 years into good players, instead of sitting there watching and marvelling a champion doing his thing in our colours. ;)
