Traded Judd McVee [traded to Fremantle for pick #23]

Yeah but the team that Clark was trying to break into was muuuuuuch better than the one McVee's been playing in
In 2023 McVee was playing in a top 4 team in Melbourne. A year Geelong was 12th. Melbourne won as many games in 2023 as Geelong did in Clark's last year and McVee played every game for Melbourne in 2023 while Clark played 13 games and was dropped multiple times in his last season at Geelong.

It's a fair point as Geelong is definitely a better organisation than us at the moment, but he did finish top 10 in our BnF in 2023. A year in which we were a kick away from a prelim.

He's definitely had an off year compared to 2023 and 2024, but he did suffer a rough injury in the pre-season and was playing a more limiting role than in previous years.

My starting point would be Pick 11 for McVee and Pick 23, although it would probably be brought down from there
Absolutely no chance.

Ok, feel free to propose a different trade instead of just dismissing
I think you'll get points that can be combined with your existing picks to move upon the draft and get a first rounder from GC. Eg Our 2nd pick and one of our third rounders. We own the Richmond third rounder and our own. Combine those two picks with your second rounder and you've got an early pick from GC.

We are on record as trying to upgrade our 1st so highly unlikely we'd demote that pick as there are plenty of players who would fill a list need that will be available around that pick likely to be used around pick 20.

Great points, I don't disagree.

In my view, our club has favoured the top end of the draft, so I only think they would go for this if they believe that they can get the pick from GC. If it doesn't seem like a possibility, they will most likely try to get the highest pick for McVee by packaging picks with him.

Obviously, he is out of contract, so they may just have to take the 2nd round pick, but recent history suggests the club will always look to get the highest pick possible.

Shows you just how far apart people are on Judd McVee. On trade radio today, Brad Johnson said pick 33 for Judd McVee, Josh Jenkins was mystified and said that Pick 12 was more appropriate. Clearly Brad watches no footy.

Who is Josh Jenkins????

From what Walls said today, it's no way are we giving them our first rounder, they want more than our second, we will have to try and see if we can throw some steak knives in with our 2nd pick

I don't know, I think if I found myself agreeing with Josh Jenkins I might go see a doctor.

Surely you jest ?

Brad Johnson is about 100 times the football analyst than that parody of football commentator Jenkins .
- that muppet is notorious for having absolutely no clue on almost everything in football

Seems dumb they wouldn’t just let the Dees balance it out with F2/27/41/55/Swap of F1s/2027 picks or a combination of those for 12. Both clubs sound fairly aligned on value and just need to balance it out.

What’s adding another club to the mix going to really achieve here that can’t already be achieved?

We won't want large numbers of picks because we have a list squeeze. Basically we are only using 3 picks max this draft (might even be 2) with Whan (NGA) being one of them. Therefore we won't be particularly keen to get picks back unless there is a clear option to combine them to move up the board.

Future picks might help but we have a promising NGA next year as well who looks likely for mid to late 1st round.

I suspect we will simply move 34 up into the mid to late 20s and that should do it.

Mid to late 20s, so pick 27, which Dees have…
