Judd, Walker...maybe Goddard? What's the common link?

Let's not kid ourselves, Caulfied Grammar don't breed footballers they just poach them from elsewhere via a scholarship, as do most other private schools, and then they take all the kudos whilst the real development guys get forgotten.

Goddard can sit on the deck of the Titanic if he likes, whilst we sail past on the Queen Mary.
really?

pretty sure judd was there from year 7 but obviously you know all.

Why don't you people want him? I do even though he won't come...

Better symmetry:

Option (a) Murphy, Walker, Judd
Option (b) Gibbs, Walker, Judd
Option (c) Kreuzer, Walker Judd

:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:QUOTE]

Even better symmetry:

Option (a) Murphy, Walker, Judd, Livingstone
Option (b) Gibbs, Walker, Judd, Livingstone
Option (c) Kreuzer, Walker Judd, Livingstone

hahaha

hate caulfield more than the next bloke, but have to say that Juddy & Goddard were there from the start, Tex went there for year 12 only and played i think it was 2 games for them. & Yes in recent years they and many other schools BAR XAVIER, have gone on a spending spree.

BJ only came to CGS in around year 9/10. Even as a proud grammarian, Judd is the only true CGS footballer going around at the moment IMO

Yeah........maybe we will get Jonathon Brown as well......y'know he's out of contract, and plays this weekend with Judd, Fev and Waite.......could be something in that.:p

Judd was definitely there from Yr 7...

I took him on camp in his 2nd or 3rd week of high school as a Yr 11 camp supervisor...

On the first night of the camp, as per usual, the kids were a bit excited and were up yabbering past 2 in the morning. Myself and a few of my mates as camp leaders were responsible for getting the kids to bed and then getting them up the next morning...

Thinking that we'd teach them a bit of a lesson we went in at 5:30 the next morning and dragged all the kids out of bed and I took half of them for a 5km run before breakfast, just to teach them a lesson about keeping us up the night before.

I was a decent cross-country runner for the school as a 16-year-old, but this bloody man-child ran shoulder-to-shoulder with me the whole way as we left all the other kids well and truly behind us. Upon reaching the end of the 5kms I turned to him and said, "You're a fair runner for a Year 7...and on 2 hours sleep". He responded with, "Well, I play a fair bit of footy so I'm reasonably fit"... We then proceeded to run back up the road and hurry up the rest of the kids, some of which were at least 2kms away.

So, all told this 12-year-old ran about 10kms before breakfast, hardly broke a sweat and was already looking like a man amongst boys at this age... I commented to my mate about it over breakfast - and pointed him out at the next table. His response, "What's his name".... I told him, "I think it's Chris....Chris Judd".

Needless to say, this has become a story I have dined out on for a while - and am absolutely rapt that he is now at Carlton!

oh ok, but was it that they threw a Scholarship at him for football purposes, or was it a genuine move???

Definitely as a result of a scholarship. The rumour around was that he was on a "music" scholarpship instead of for his sport though;)...

Mum should have taken the scholarship.

Ahh the victory is even sweeter now.
I have a story for you all as well then…

In the year of 2001 both myself and Chris Judd were in year 12. I was a Xavier boy and of course Juddy was a Caulfield man. In the first 5 round of that year Juddy had kicked something like 35 goals and Caulfield’s winning margin was about 60 points. We had played Brighton in round 3 and lost on our home ground, Caulfield had played Brighton as well and smashed them by a solid margin. It was looking like a Caulfield premiership ALA Carlton of 95. Caulfield along with a year 10 by the name of Brendan Goddard was ripping everyone to shreds.

Next game Xavier vs Caulfield @ Caulfield, but first came the mid term break. In that time the National championship was on and Xavier had both Luke Ball and Jobe Watson representing them, whilst Caulfield had Juddy in the Vic Metro team. Ill never forget the next turn of events, something in which is so ironic. Ill never forget my reaction to the news that was quickly filtering through the APS ranks and especially the Xavier school system. Juddy had done his shoulder and required a shoulder reconstruction on his “good” shoulder. It was almost the best news I had ever heard. All we needed to do was win that game against Caulfield and go throughout the rest of the 5 games undefeated and we would be crowned Premiers AGAIN. Now every time I see Juddy with his shoulders all wrapped up I think of that very phone call.

Game day, we were all very nervous and anxious but at the same time confident. We knew that without Juddy we were a massive chance. With Juddy in we were no chance. The game was a close encounter right through until the last 5 minutes. We managed to kick 3 late goals to win by a massive 1 POINT. We went wild, there was almost 300 Xavierians there going bananas, and we knew that we had one hand on the cup. I will never forget seeing Juddy’s face after the game. It was to me at the time priceless, and I really could not have given a $hit. Oh how things have changed.

So me X 2 APS premierships >>>>>>>>>>> Juddy X 0 APS premierships. Got something you don’t Juddy in your football career. :D:p

Hopefully that didn’t drain you.

Go Xavs and Go Juddy
