Hi guys,

Great Forum, it has provided me great entertainment whilst waiting for my username to be activated.

Anyway, i remember in 2003-2004 there was a huge article in the Herald sun regarding geelongs legendary centre half back Jack Hawkins son who was was 16 at the time (from memory) and was approx 6'5 and a ready made footballer who the might cats were looking to draft.

Since that time i have heard nothing on the matter. I was thinking we would use our 3rd draft pick this year to get him.

Has anyone heard anymore or has the talented kid disapeared?

Going on our recent lack of tall forward options i was thinking this would be just what the cats need. In a few years he would slot in nice along side N.Ablett at full forward.

What are your thoughts?

Cheers

There are very big raps on the young kid. He is still playing for Melbourne Grammar, however I dont think he is eligible until next year! He appears to be a fantastic size for a KPP, and with a pre-season or two in the gym should bulk up nicely and be a nice fit in our forward line.

I havent seen him play, but from all reports he moves very well from a big fan and is a great kick for goal too!

Very exciting when he comes to the club. Could he take his old man's #26 off Matty McCarthy (assuming he is still at the club).

Tom is flying for Melbourne Grammar. Most agree he's one of the top two players in the APS and rival coaches seem to agree seeing he's double and triple teamed each week.

Hopefully 2006 sees him spend an extended period playing for the Dragons as i feel he needs it for his development. In the TAC Cup he'd be free of the shackles, be able to use his massive leap and just run around and have fun.

The kid will be a star, bring on the 2006 draft.

Thats whati was gonna ask.. Does he actually wanna play for us. Id hate it to be like teh Marc Murphy situation thats happening at the moment.

Yeah, I think Jimmy Bartel is dating Tom Hawkins' sister.
Good to see, secure them both to the club via family ties forever!! :)

EDIT - Tom...Tom...it's Tom :o

Isn't the Marc Murphy thing more to do with not wanting to move interstate?

For Jimmy's sake, i hope you mean Tom Hawkin' sister.

Hey don't pay Jimmy out, he might like older women.

Wow so that means Jimmy Bartel's gf is Tom's sis and she goes the Ballarat Uni... It's all coming together now.

I posted Tom's performances on a thread awhile back, here it is again for those who didn't catch the first post:

Tom is a Geelong supporter, so we've apparently cleared that hurdle.

hey hey sounds pretty darn good.

So we would get him under father/son hehe. Ive actually never heard of this kd before but by the sounds of it, he is looking like our next saviour lol

Tom has been playing extremely well every week for MGS, rotates through CHF, Ruck and also plays in the midfield and is just too big and strong for the rest. He stands at 197cm and weighs 95kg, can run all day, very fit.
Very, very keen Geelong supporter
