Bit of love required for this bloke.

Has been much maligned for the majority of the season and most of last year since he dominated in Round 1 against the Blues in 2016. He's having a good year in my opinion. Averaging 19 disposals (up on his two previous years), is top 5 at the club in key stats including tackles and inside 50s and sits second in goal assists. He's also in the top 10 for effective disposals (ahead of guys like Short, McIntosh and Rioli) and far lower on the clanger list than some would have you believe (23rd). Chipped in for a handy 5 goals too.

Not only that, he's been massively important in shutting out a quality opposition mid. Has done jobs on Treloar, Mitchell, Cunnington among others and been very effective.

He would be top 10 in our B&F right now and is part of the reason we're going well. We've needed this sort of improvement from the bottom end of our list in order to be successful and he's showing what that sort of improvement leads to.
 
Actually doing a great job as our tagger. Has the pace, endurance and strength to shut down the better ball winners. Will never he in our best midfielders but has the smarts to work off his opponent too who is taking him to the ball more than previous seasons. Nice to have a reasonable tagger for a change

Agree good post. He has surprised me, as i thought on last year he had nothing left in the tank. Glad he has proven me wrong.

Never, because it will result in the 17 blokes I have on my ignore list bagging the shit out of him and so for me it just looks like everyone is arguing against no one.

Yep Kane was going great guns in 2016 until that Port sniping scumbag Ebert put his knee into Kane's ribs and caused that terrible injury.

Took a while but I'm happy Kane is getting back to previous best and I hope someone can return the favour (with some extra topping) to Eggbert come Rd 15.

Always will, but if he keeps playing like he is then until Conca comes back from injury or we bring in another inside mid, I'm happy for him to remain in the team.

He is very limited in regards to what he offers. He is pretty much at his ceiling as to his potential.
What he has served up prior to this season was VFL standard.
I hope he maintains this level for the rest of the season, because come finals, we need everyone at their best and I'd hate to see him revert back to his VFL standard.

I really like Kane. Has stood up for us this year. He's found his niche playing the run with roll but he also gets into dangerous positions in offence to hurt the other team by getting involved in scoring chains or scoring the goal himself. A smart footballer cementing himself in the side.

The stats that I've quoted show that he is in fact not limited. He can win his own ball, apply defensive pressure and assist greatly in helping us score, all while shutting out an opposition mid. That's finding a number of ways to impact a game, not being limited. A limited player is someone like Lennon who requires silver service for him to have any sort of impact.

He's one of the best performed and most consistent players at the club this season. It's also strange to think that a player who has played 38 games has reached his potential. And to say that he was VFL standard prior to this year is a very misinformed comment. 28 touches, 7 tackles and a goal v Carlton last year (BOG) started some solid form before Ebert ruined his ribs.

Mate, I get that you really like Lambert and that's fine. You obviously mentioned Lennon due to my outspoken views on him.

You like Lambert, I don't.
I like Lennon, you don't.

I've given you my reasons and as I said, the way he is playing this year, he deserves to be in the team, but he is playing at his peak. That's why his stats you mention are reflecting well for him.
The issue is, he doesn't have that next level of performance.
If we want to be any good, we are going to need to have a mid from the level below pushing out the likes of Lambert.

He's shit. Exposed AFL form means nothing. Classy movers who contribute at VFL level but can't get a touch in the 1s though.... :$.... Right prodigy :p

Comparing the output of Lennon and Lambert is ridiculous. They don't play the same position.
Many people have said on this board, playing that high half forward role is the toughest position to get high stats in our team at the moment.

This isn't about Lennon though, it's about Lambert.

Lambert is what he is Too good for VFL and average AFL player that is probably 1-2 years away from being upgraded and he know his place

He is twice the player that Lemon will ever be
