Kane Lucas???

The Sydney comment was a strange one, I don't know quite how to interpret it. Distinctly said 'I'm not there yet'.

Maybe I'm just reading too much into it but couple that statement with how he has played this year and it's easy to come to the conclusion that he may be with GWS next year.
If he is heading to GWS, how do you think he's current form might impact on his compensation for us??

He had a pretty bad hamstring injury didn't he? Almost off the bone? Looking at past players who have done that, they haven't exactly come back in full flight quickly.

He has talent. Back him in for next year. A good pre season and it'll be a bonus,

I think it was a medial ligament from memory.

I think that BD is pretty right... last year suffered a pretty bad hammy almost pulled it off the bone. but I think that was the second one he did. Either way it was pretty bad. I reckon that he has lost confidence and is struggling to believe that he can get it back together.

I hope that the club can deal with his problems and get them sorted out because he is quality and will be an awesome player once he gets it all back together.

If he goes to Sydney, I hope that we get something really tasty back for him.

I wouldn't think it would impact it too much. The compensation system takes into account a players future salary, age and draft position (that last one I'm not sure on). They are then split up in to catergories from band 1-5.

Gary Ablett was obviously band 1 and Geelong received 2 first round picks.

A panel decide on which band a player will come over but I'd hope that we would get a first rounder back for Lucas if he did sign with GWS.

It's all pure guesswork ATM though.

Cheers Mate, makes sense!:thumbsu:

If Scully is worth 2 first rounders like the AFL has said, Lucas is definitely worth a first rounder.
You would certainly hope so, hope he stays and puts his best foot forward next year TBH, but dont like the vibes I am getting via this thread after his future stars appearance.

Lucas is definitely a first rounder just, he was chosen as a first rounder in the draft previous to the latest. It's a big difference if he was drafted 5 years ago and hasn't performed. That case he would be near delisted.

First Rounder

2 years = Same Selection over 7 games at least.
3 years = 2nd Rounder
4 years = 3rd or 4th round
5 years or over = Delist the spud, 1st rounders should have played between 7 - 30 games by Season 2. The guy is having a free ride on the small list.

Hate to say it guys but no way will we get a first rnd pick for Lucas, hasn't done enough to come close to justify Scully like compo.

I say we bank our compo pick for the 2012 draft which is uncompromised and most deep draft in years according to some experts.

Link?

Would make sense - he's out of contract, and thus would cost them nothing.

Handy way of picking up (another) first rounder for free.

Sheedy interview somewhere in there. Mentions that he was targeting him (specifically names him, I believe, at the very least alludes to him). There are others and I'll try to dig them up.

But more importantly, whos the chick at 00:15?

Hottie.

Yeah, im thinking he's gone, particularly in light of his comments re: Sydney. Would make some sense for CFC to sacrifice this bloke as our out of contract player (protect the others).

He's probably getting a nice pay rise for a second year player as well.

Dare I say it, but I would have preferred to see Mclean go north. If just to shut up the knockers, more than any belief that his time is past him. Be a good fit for the Giants as well.

Still feels weird saying Giants in an AFL forum.

I'd agree with that. We'd get more compensation for Lucas than for Brock. I can see a Brock trade to either the GCS or GWS. Similar premise as the oft-talked about Thornton trade proposals. Both teams require ready made players and if they can get his body right (theoretically greater chance of that happening in Sydney or a warmer Gold Coast than in Melbourne) would give them a veteran who can fill in for a while.

I'd settle with a first compensation for Lucas and a third for Brock (which sounds about right). Use the first rounder next year. Use our two third round picks this year to try and trade up into the second or for another player upgrade.

Having worked previously for the former NM Giants (NBL) it does feel weird to me saying them in an AFL forum as well.

Maybe it's just me but Giants is a much better monkier than Suns, Power or Dockers

I know he's been poor at the Bullants for most of the year, but the fact the MC aren't considering him for a recall suggets they know he's gone to GWS.

Rhys Palmer is not getting a game at Freo for that exact season, he is 100 percent gone.

Or maybe because he is in poor form for the Bullants, as you just mentioned.

Perhaps surgery and a limited pre-season had him too far behind others on the list and the club has chosen to take a slow but sure approach with a young kid.
Nobody has any credible sources so it is all speculation

I believe that is all anyone has about Kane right now... pure speculation about his future.

No one has a single credible source that can actually verify his future intentions so everyone is speculating on it
