Gday guys,
I see this as a huge danger game for us with the kangas on a roll. There shinboner spirit will be a test for our boys we match up well against them though. It'd be good to get as many to the game as possible, I know I'll be there. Some match ups:
Firrito vs Roo

Thompson vs Bock

Sav vs Rutten

Shirley vs Boomer

Mcleod vs Harris (defensive forward)

Goodwin vs Rawlings

Grant vs Torney

This will be an absolute cracker of a game IMO.

Their two talls up forward in Rocca and Thompson might cause us a bit of grief.

To win the game we will have to win the clearances both at the centre bounce and around the ground, and they're no slouches in that department themselves. Whether or not Goodwin plays could be the difference between winning and losing.

Crows by 11 points in a thriller.

I think we have Sav covered coz Benny Rutten killed him last time and im confident he'll do it again, unfortuante for skippy to miss another week.

Crows by 4 goals

I don't rate the Kangaroos. We should pump them. There's no excuses for this game. If we lose, it will be because we play poorly.

The X factor for us is Scott Welsh. He has a poor record against his old club, but if he can provide a real avenue to goal, we're in with a real chance.

that is disappointing. Most crows fans i know have always rated the Kangaroos pretty highly. We have a decent record against the Crows.

Is there a reason you don't rate os ****?

Thompson and Rocca will probably be the keys in this game. Assuming Bocky comes back and gets Thompson, he will have a huge task at containing him. Thompson has also been in good goal kicking form. Can someone find his stats for the last couple of games ?

In ruck we should have an advantage, especially if Hale doesn't come up for them. The game will be a lot tighter and tougher than against the DishLickers, and I expect that there wont be any player picking up 'cheap' kicks anywhere on the ground.

I think Wells has been missing in recent weeks so that could be a bonus for us if he doesn't play aswell.

Roos are a good team, but I think we're good enough to get over the line in a tight contest.

Come on ****, you don't rate a team in the top 5  ? I think you are an intelligent poster here and I more often than not agree with your posts and logic but that comment is ridiculous !

Please elaborate for us.

Rate us or not, we are 5th on the ladder.

If you do win, I don't think you'll pump us. More likely restrict us from kicking a winning score. Over recent weeks we are probably averaging around 25-30 scoring shots per game. If we keep up that average I think we should win, big if though, as your defence is obviously the best going around.

Hi db_006. Have you got any injury updates from your club for us ?

Cheers for any info. :)

G'day, I think as already mentioned, Hale is our only concern. He did play already with a smashed up face, so bruised ribs shouldn't bother him ;)

Maybe it's my ignorance or a lack of knowledge about the Kangaroos. Or maybe I'm justified in thinking that you are not as good as us and we should win this game. But we could debate that forever.

In the past I have rated the Kangaroos very highly. Throughout the 90's I was in awe of them. But the last few years I have considered them a run of the mill, middle of the table team who are not much of a finals threat. That hasn't been too far off the mark really when you look at your record.

Even at 5-0 earlier this year I didn't think they were that good. A losing streak after that showed that you probably weren't. Right now, you are defying my predictions and are hovering around the top 4, so you look like finally acheiving more than I give you credit for, but I still have my doubts. I didn't think you'd make the finals. It's looks certain you now will. So you've done better than I thought you would, but at the moment I, perhaps ignorantly, don't rate them much higher than a middle of the road team who have a ladder position that defies their standing talent-wise.

Not dissimilar to how most people see us really. Many doubted us, and some still don't see us as a legitimate threat despite a solid record. That's how I see the Roos. I don't fear them.

let's hope the players don't get as cocky as some of the fans. Along with us, the kangaroos are vying for a top 4 possie and deserve to be treated with respect. Underestimate them at our peril.

Yeah, Kangas are a tough bunch.
Micky Martin played every game of his career with a smashed up face.

I think your last paragraph sums up why the Roos are actually under or not rated by many. Actually have a a decent list that has been well managed since Pagan has left with some clever recruiting & are well coached by The Bible - even if he is a grump & doesn't rate the Crows. Both teams are evenly matched & should be a great indicator this WE as to where they are both at.

I also see Thompson as a big danger & it will be interesting to see how Bock responds to his dropping after a couple of poorer performances. I think they will be equally worried about containing our attack of Kenny, Sarge, Welshy & Trent. Potential matchups of Brown, Watt, Archer & Colbert - I see Watt as the weak link.

However, it will probably come down to who gets on top in the midfield. I expect Shirley to get the job on the dangerous Harvey. Rawlings will follow Macca regardless of where he plays. Grant also needs to be watched closely. JT should get the job if he plays forward.

Spud Firrito will take Riccuito (sp?). Has done well on him over the past 12 months.

Rawlings on McLeod is a given. They'll be the only 2 tags we apply.

Hale is a 50/50 at best - but he did play versus the Eagles with a broken cheekbone/sinus bone without missing a beat and might still come up. If not - McIntosh is on stand by.

Midfields IMO are pretty evenly matched. If you don't pay respect to Harris (our clearance king) you will get hurt. Opposition taggers usually find themselves on Harvey & Wells.

We do have one extra tall forward. Of late, Thommo does most of his work closer to goal, and Sav can hurt from outside 50. Interesting to see how you combat them - as our forward structure (even with the same cattle) is different to the last time we met. One of them is due for a bag (hopefully they're not saving themselves for R22 against Carlton to cut loose)

If you let us play a loose man in defence (ie Colbert/Archer) you will lose. (game will be played on our terms). I have no doubt about that.

Should be a cracker. Hopefully it's a good as a contest as our recent clash with the Eagles, with the result in our favour.

My tip - North by 15 points.

Watching the Roos last few games Thompson has looked like he is in top form and I see him being the key if the Kangaroos are to challenge us.

I think Rutten should be considered for the job as he has been playing close to goal and Ben should get their number 1 forward.

I hope he does another job like he did against J Brown and get the Melbourne comentators talking about him for the AA which he deserves.

Well, I for one rate the Roo's , and I am sure alot of Crows supporters do , every time I watch them they are hard at the ball, and play an attractive, and effective brand of footy, something a lot of the more "fancied" sides should have a good look at.

If the reports are true and Hale doesn't come up most likely Hamish Mc Intosh will play (he debuted against you guys) At some stage Petrie will take the ruck and Sav, Thommo and Mc Intosh will all be in the forward line. Who will take who? Should be a good game. Any injuries coming out of your camp?

The Kangaroos will have three key individuals who will be impossible to stop. These three worked extremely hard in the Kangaroos game against West Coast but just could not get them over the line. The Crows must be wary of these three but unfortunately there will be virtually nothing our boys can do to quell their influence.

All we can hope for is that the Crows play to a high enough level such that we can still come away with the win despite the power of these three who will do their best to ensure the Kangaroos win.
