Despite only being 2-3, I think we'll break our hoodoo away from home very soon.

Tonight a few dodgy umpiring calls shifted momentum enough for the Hawks to swoop. We weren't embarassed, we weren't humiliated, we lost a scrappy affair.

Glass is in top form. Kerr looks good despite being heavily tagged. LeCras is at his freakish best. MacKenzie is quickly developing.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Kennedy in the mix next week against Freo.

Don't stress too much, we're on the up.

agree, we guttsed it out. proud yet dissapointed.

kennedy in plz.

I would have been happy with a couple goal loss before the start of the game, the Hawks are still a very dangerous side.

But it kills you when you get in front in the last and don't finish it off, umpires or not.

We are getting better on the road, we could quite easily be 4-1 at the moment, unfortunately we are 2-3, but certainly looking much better on the road than last year.

We played far better than I expected us to, but still quite a few negatives that have detracted from the result. Namely our poor skills in the wet, several passengers, our clearance work and the fact that Sewell and Mitchell ran around untouched the whole game.

I guess as a WC supported I am greedy. The boys show a bit one week and I want back to back flags. Thats the Eagles (and their fans) for you.

Many of use were concerned going into the season that we would start 0-6. Win against Freo next week and we will be 3-3, which I reckon most of use would of taken preseason.

But geez, if we had gotten this and the Brisbane game how good would we have looked?

We would have, yes. But when you lose games like this, and like Brisbane you can't help but feel a little disappointed and think how it could have been. (5-1)

Top six or priority pick actually. ;)

It was a fantastic effort but when we're so good one week it's hard not to be disappointed when we lose a game we were in a position to win the next. Top effort, but a loss is always hard to take.

Thank god it wasn't another St Kilda effort though.

Look, I'm happy with the effort of the Eagles against Hawthorn and the start of the season in general, but did we play much better tonight than we did against St Kilda or did the conditions and opposition mean a closer result? I personally think we had all the same problems that we had against St Kilda.

Our skills were poor, forward line dysfunctional and we looked a bit worn out at times, but we had a real crack at it and fought back when Hawthorn got a few goals ahead in a low-scoring game. Against St Kilda we pretty much seemed to give up after the first quarter.

Freo have looked ok tonight - dangerous game next week...

No doubt.

Like someone else mentioned i honestly think it hurts a lot more to lose this sort of game compared to the game against St Kilda. Either side could have won that game today and when we you hit the front in the last quarter you want to finish the job. Unfortunately for us we have been in a similar situation twice this year and let both slip.

We were ok without being anything spectacular. Still a lot of work but the signs are good for the future. The constant pressure and man handling of Daniel Kerr is really starting to irritate me and the umpiring tonight was bordering on disgusting but it was not the reason we lost the game.

Mitchell had to be shut down but was simply roaming around picking up possesions at will, not only picking them up but he was really hurting us, very disappointing.

On a positive note Darren Glass really is a remarkable player. Was Brilliant tonight.
