He originates from South Australia and chances are he will be released from Geelong this season. He kicked 57 goals in 2002, 48 in 04 and 57 just last season. He’s been well below his best this season, struggling to get a game for the Cats. However with Hentschel to be out for the entire 2007 season, we need a replacement. I say we seriously look at Kingsley as I believe he still has something to offer. He is only 27 and back in his home state with more opportunities he could be a great pickup. He probably wouldn't cost more than a 3rd Rounder.

Thoughts?

PSD maybe

I've always seen him as a carbon copy of Scott Welsh, but with a lower workrate and goal accuracy.

Might be worth a look though, on the cheap as you've both said.

Yes.

Drummond is right though, we need to pick up a ready made forward.

Chris Tarrant anyone?

No. He has some serious work to do in getting his attitude and committment to playing footy sorted out. It could pay off, but it would be a massive risk.

Totally agree. Put all our efforts into getting Mr Pavlich in the next few years.

Knowing the Pies, they’ll ask for way too much for him. They’ll probably want a 1st Round pick, which is a little steep. But considering the way the Cats have used Kingsley this season, they can’t demand too much. He would either come through a late draft pick, or slip through to the PSD. A ready made forward capable of kicking 50+ goals interests me…

For the price Collingwood would be asking (1st rounder + Meesen and/or Reilly), I'd rather get Sean Rusling, Adelaide boy with a massive future.

I remember during the Port vs Pies game a couple of weeks back, Den compared his movement and style to a young Phil Carman and although that's a monumental wrap I have to admit I agreed.

That's how I see it too. We have enough mid-forward types & are in more in need of KPP's or crumbers. Would only be worth considering if he came reasonably cheap or we traded him for a fringe player.

angaston boy eh?

i think kent has struggled for consistancy... esp when it comes to accuracy. he could turn into another chalmers/downsborough/mccartney

Spot on.

Too much of the same thing can't be good. We just can't have a same mix in the forward line.

If he came cheap, you would look at it as sort of a bridging option until/if Hentschel recovers or you get someone better.

While we are discussing options, would Graham Polak come into considerations? A month or so ago I flat out said NO but now you would have to think about it. We are weak in KPP department as it is. With Hentschel out we are lot thinner.

Whose the young Glenelg KPP they reckon will go very early in the draft?

Not Bryce, the other boy.

What would it take to get him?

James Sellar. He's playing reserves for the Bays at the moment, so even if we could do a trade to get a pick high enough to grab him, he isn't going to be a quick fix. I think the drafts and trading board has him going between 5 and 10 at the moment.

Are we after a quick fix?

As stupid as it sounds, considering we're second top and still a real show for the flag, do we start rebuilding right now?

Or do we go for someone like a Kingsley or Tarrant (I don't want Tarrant, he's a knob) and have one more red hot go at it next year?

Yes, I would consider Polak. Good talent, can play either forward or back and pinch hit in the ruck if required.

And another player I wouldn’t mind targeting is Llane Spaanderman. He’s 198cm, 99kg and only 20 years of age. Watched him a few weeks back playing for East Perth and I was very impressed, has a great pair of hands and is extremely athletic. He was drafted 18th so he obviously has a ton of talent, it’s just about whether he’s focused for AFL footy. I wouldn’t mind taking a punt on him considering our lack of quality KPP’s.

Polak would have to be a target now. Also we need to try and draft KPP, like Sellar (although his value has plummeted IMHO, and I think we could pick him up at 15-16). Do we trade out to get better picks, do we trade for other players, I don't know. But I do think Polak would look better in the trecolore than he currently is over to the west.
