A bit precious there Sticks.

Why can't opposition Presidents have an opinion?

And putting a side the fact Eddie is a president - The man has led his football club to be the benchmark off an on the field so I would have thought his opinion carries a bit of weight.

We have had no need to as we have a mix of successful and knowledgeable coaches led by senior coach Brett Ratten.

Including John Barker who I believe was sacked by two clubs prior to joining us.

Instead of speculating on matters and looking for outside influences, and getting it wrong, it would be more appropriate to focus on the team’s poor performance. That is what everyone at the club is doing, looking at turning this around.

If this form doesn't turn around quickly, sticks had better be willing to look around at some point. Head coaches can't say top 4 is the minimum and keep their job if a team misses the 8.

Either way, don't really care what ratts or sticks or judd or warnock or any other player/ coach/ board member have to say about improving performance. I want to see someone actually ****ing do it. Talk is cheap and we have shown no signs of improvement for 7 weeks, bar good final quarters against the 16th and 17th teams on the ladder.

I love Sticks, but isn't this a bit of an overreaction?

I wonder why this sort of anger can't be directed towards the playing group for their pathetic performances over the last month.

Good to see Sticks shoving it up Eddie. Now he needs to read the riot act to all that aren't performing to the standard expected.

Re talk is cheap posts.

The media are crawling all over it and wildly speculating. Sticks coming out and saying what he did is exactly what a president should be doing. Whether we agree with the words or not, he is showing some testicular fortitude and for that he gets a round of applause.

Honestly, Eddie has been there so has a right to comment? Eddie is a Carlton hater from way back and would rather die than give us valuable advice that might give us a leg up. You can be down on our current stocks as much as you like, but let's not get all sycophantic with our rivals. Stand up, put your hand to the navy blue monogram, resile to deal with Carlton business amongst ourselves and live or die together.

That would be kept in private. As far as an over reaction - good to see Sticks making sure we don't have Eddie becoming another Know-it-all Kennett

Can you imagine Eddie's McGuire's attitude if, after the loss to Carlton in round 3, Sticks had come out with; "Should have kept Mick."

McGuure would have ranted and raved from the roof tops.
In fact he did rant and rave and openly sledged Malthouse.

I'm glad Kernahan put him in his place

McGuire can mind his own f#@king business.

Where is the like button for this? Oh well, this will have to do. :thumbsu:

Maybe if the playing group go on the radio and speculate about things they know nothing about, he might. Aside from that, he will do what he is supposed to do, use the coach as a conduit and if he does weigh in, he does so behind close doors and not for the viewing pleasure of the disillusioned masses.

I don't know whether it is reality TV or something else that makes us think that if we haven't seen every private moment that occurs at the club, then it didn't happen.

Club presidents should not be buying into the affairs of other clubs.

Eddie McGuire has been very precious over the years when the media, or anyone else from the football community has tried to stir the pot where Collingwood have been concerned. It was only a couple of months ago he threatened to steal sponsors from the Melbourne Football Club.

If Eddie wants to be a media personality & pass judgement on other AFL clubs, he should relinquish his role as president of the Collingwood Football Club, otherwise he should shut the **** up.

We're getting pounded (and rightly so) for our on field performance. The last thing the club needs is Malthouse's shadow learking and Eddie throwing grenades with his MMM hat on.

As boorish and cringeworthy as John Elliot could be at times, and he's lost all of his fan points with me over the past decade, his one shining attribute was to let people know what it was to be Carlton, and not be a shrinking violet if anybody wanted to stir crap up about us.

Ever since late 2002, we have been defeated, humbled, despondent, meek, standing up against a wall without a dance partner. I don't blame other presidents, we had to appear contrite, appear to turn the other cheek. We had a tarnished reputation and many sins to repent for. Contrition and knowing your place doesn't last forever though.

Good to see we still have bite and there is something about a 6 foot 5 president, our greatest ever captain and last premiership captain to boot, telling everybody else to stay out of our business, that makes me wish I was playing so I could run through brick walls for him.

Fire up Sticks.

Well if Malthouse hasn't been spoken to by the Blues as Sticks has stated then they better hurry up and change that before some other club does !

Caro & Co swoop...

Big Blue brewing over Carlton, Malthouse link.

"FURIOUS Carlton president Stephen Kernahan lashed out at Collingwood counterpart Eddie McGuire last night, dismissing speculation the Blues had any interest in reigniting Mick Malthouse's coaching career.
The inevitable speculation linking Malthouse with Carlton again emerged yesterday morning when McGuire declared his former coach would be a perfect fit for the Blues".

"McGuire said he believed the man who took Collingwood to a premiership in 2010 and another grand final in 2011 still had the ability to lead an AFL club. Malthouse would not comment last night, but when asked on Friday at a 3AW sponsors' function about the prospect of coaching again, he said: ''Never say never.''

Wish the players would. They don't seem to respond to anything else and ratts doesn't appear to be a great motivator.

I don't disagree with what he's done, he absolutely should tell eddie where to stick it. Eddie needs to decide whether he's a president or radio host, or keep them seperate. He's the first to have a whinge about others giving their views on pie issues.

Doesn't change the fact that all we've had for 2 months is talk about what we need to do, followed by the same weak actions that led to the talk in the first place.
